According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as the Daily Bugle's Editor-In-Chief, J. Jonah Jameson, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It's a piece of news that is likely going to go down well with Spider-Man fans, as Simmons' previous portrayal of the character is memorable, and people have been clamoring for him to return ever since Tom Holland's version of the webslinger was introduced.

This won't be Simmons' first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as he played Jameson in a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Since then, the Whiplash star has hinted that he will return to his Daily Bugle role, but now it appears to be confirmed that he will be doing that. He played a role in Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man trilogy, where he took on a significant portion of the story and created an excellent feud with Spider-Man himself. It was always one of the highlights of those movies, with Simmons seemingly being the perfect casting to bring this classic comic book role to life.

That's something that people will be expecting to see again, with Jameson notoriously being a pain for Spider-Man and Peter Parker to deal with. This movie is supposedly going to take the character into college, so the idea of him getting a job on the side would make sense, especially after Doctor Strange's spell means he no longer has access to Stark technology for his suits.

It's unknown what the full story will be for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but it's believed that Marvel is going to be taking him in a new direction. He is not set to be part of Avengers: Doomsday, meaning this film will be the next time he swings onto the big screen. With the additions of Sink and Simmons to the cast, it is clear that Marvel is showing no signs of slowing down with how invested they are in the Spider-Man franchise, and that's something that audiences will be excited about.
