The absence of Bethesda's beloved hand-crafted locations in favor of procedural generation to facilitate the expanded vision was a particular point of contention for many fans. In September 2024, Bethesda released the Shattered Space DLC in an attempt to recapture interest. In a recent development, however, speculation surrounding a new DLC for the space RPG reignited when Windows Central's Jez Corden let slip in a podcast that the "core teams at Bethesda right now are working on Starfield DLC and also Elder Scrolls 6," while also confirming that Fallout 5 has been fully greenlit.

August could prove to be a big day for Starfield, but it remains to be seen if fans are destined to get good news or bad news.
On July 14, known leaker NateTheHate commented in a forum thread on ResetEra, "Another DLC expansion is still to come -- though it doesn't seem like it'll make 2025 at this point," in response to a user asking if there was more content coming to Starfield. He tacitly reaffirmed Jez Corden's earlier leak by confirming the existence of the DLC. Additionally, the statement seems to allude to an early 2026 release window, supporting the idea that development has been ongoing for some time.
NateTheHate Says Starfield's Next Major DLC Is Delayed
NateTheHate is a relatively well-known leaker who has been proven right in multiple instances in the past. Most recently, he claimed that Starfield would be coming to PS5, a statement backed up by other industry insiders. Though there is still no official confirmation about this rumored release, chances are good that this will prove to be true.
Shattered Space's lukewarm reception has set high stakes for this next Starfield DLC. If it fails to elicit a response from the community and drive players back, fans might very well see Bethesda pulling the plug on more content. Fortunately for those who do enjoy the space adventure, the Starfield modding scene is as active as ever, even surpassing Morrowind in the Nexus Mods’ most downloaded charts. Even if this turns out to be Starfield’s last major expansion, dedicated modders might just keep the game alive long after official support ends.
