As you move through the main story in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, you’ll run into all sorts of exciting quests that can really pull you in. From tracking down Takumi and facing your very first boss, “Mezuki,” to stepping up as the village chief and helping the town grow, there’s always something going on.
One tricky (but, of course, fun) quest you’ll run into is “Hide and Seek,” where you’ll need to track down the mystery girl you met in the Summer Village. How to Complete the Hide and Seek Quest in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
The Hide and Seek quest kicks off once you reach Summer Village and finish a few early tasks. This area unlocks in the second chapter of the main story, which becomes available after you defeat the Cursed Tree (the level 15 boss in Spring Village), build the Dragon’s Home, and let Woolby transform into the White Dragon to fly you there.
How to Find the Mystery Girl in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
Soon after you head to Matsuri’s Shrine to check on the sword guarding the area, you’ll find the entrance locked, and that’s when a mysterious little girl appears. She tells you that if you want to get inside, you’ll have to play Hide and Seek and locate her in three different spots.

1. Boat |
The first place she hides is on the boat near the dock. Just follow the orange location marker, jump onto the boat, and press F to spot her. |

2. Flower Bud |
Look for a giant flower sitting in the middle of the lake — it’s marked on your map. Unlike the first round, you’ll need to perform the Drum Dance to make the flower bloom and retrieve her. Just right-click with your mouse, and she’ll appear before you. |

3. Wooden Box |
This is easily the most challenging place to find her. The Mystery Girl doesn’t appear in any of the interactable areas here, and using Drum Dance on the usually marked locations will only waste your Rune Points. To find her for the third time in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, head to the back of the Summer Lord’s Dragon Shrine in Summer Village and check the large wooden box. Since it isn’t tied to any interactive prompt, you’ll need to use Drum Dance nearby to break it open and uncover her. |
After catching her in all three hiding places, she’ll hand over the key to the Shrine, bringing the Hide and Seek quest to a close. Just make sure you have enough Rune Points throughout the quest to do the Drum Dance when needed. If you’re running low, you can restore Rune Points by touching Rune Lanterns, cooking meals, or getting some rest.
