Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma has many optional side quests to complete in addition to its main story, which you might stumble across randomly when exploring Azuma. Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri is one such Azuma side quest in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma that sees you feed Onigiri recipes to a mysterious hole in the ground. Doing so gives you some player-chosen rewards inside a big basket or little basket, with six Onigiri hole spots to feed. Consequently, you might wonder if you should choose the big basket or little basket in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, and what reward you get with each choice.

Should You Sell Gems and Crystals in Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma?

Gems and crystals are a valuable item type in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, but do they have another use?

This guide details all the rewards you get for choosing the big or little basket in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma's Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri, its six quest locations, and the various Onigiri recipes you must choose to satisfy the hole's strange inhabitants in this quirky quest. While it could be an ideal post-game activity, it's also a quest that's best attempted once you've at least unlocked all the Sacred Treasures in the game, specifically the Sacred Staff and Sacred Parosol, which you will need to reach some of the quest locations.

How To Start Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

To start Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri quest in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, follow the beach around Summer Shores on the Summer Region map until you reach the small slope near the Open Pavilion Dragon Statue, as pictured on the map above.

On approaching, a cutscene triggers, showing you and Woolby talking to a villager about the strange, singing hole in the ground, followed by the option to roll something inside. Specifically, you'll need to make an Onigiri, and then feed it to the hole, which you can do by selecting the Onigiri recipe in the inventory menu that appears when interacting with the hole.

After feeding the hole Onigiri, you'll get a reward when choosing between a big or little basket and unlocking the Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri quest, categorized as an Azuma side quest in the game. Subsequent Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri spots will then ask for a specific Onigiri recipe.

Big Basket Vs. Little Basket Choice

Big or Little Basket player choice in Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma

Unlike other big decisions in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, the only difference between choosing the big or little basket is what secondary reward you get at each Onigiri location. If you select the big basket at the Summer Region location that triggers the quest, you'll get Strong Thread, but picking the little basket gives you three pieces of Silver. However, whichever basket you choose, you'll still receive the Butter Roll Recipe as the primary reward (a level 1 cooking recipe made from flour and butter).

At each Roll, Roll, Your Onigiri quest Location, you'll also get the chance to choose from more little and big baskets for your reward, the only difference being which secondary reward you get, as detailed in the table further below.
