Finding a decent weapon in RuneScape: Dragonwilds is absolutely crucial to progressing the gameplay loop and advancing into new regions, as enemies with a higher power level inhabiting these regions are almost impossible to contend with for those with under-leveled gear.

For players choosing the archer playstyle, a good bow is more important than anything else. The Crystal Bow is a powerful Tier 3 Bow with a unique special attack and excellent stats. Here’s how to find it.

How to Get Crystal Bow in RuneScape: Dragonwilds

The Crystal Bow can be obtained by completing the quest Heartstrings in the Fractured Plains region, north of the Whispering Swamp. This quest involves finding seven large anima-infused trees spread throughout the Fractured Plains. Here is a step-by-step breakdown of how to trigger this quest.

  1. Head to the Fractured Plains Vault location. The Vault door will be hidden behind a breakable stone boulder guarded by some Garou Hunters (bow-wielding enemies).

  2. Look for grooves in the cliff wall to the right of the Vault Cave’s entrance.

  3. Use Windstep to jump on top of these grooves (as shown above) in order to reach the top.
  4. Defeat the enemies here and proceed to the marked location to find a huge tree with brown and white bark, and a gravestone inlaid with glowing runic carvings.
  5. Interact with the gravestone to start the Heartstrings quest.

All Heartstrings Tree Locations for crystal bow in RuneScape Dragonwilds

There are a total of seven trees to find to complete the Heartstrings quest and obtain the Crystal Bow.

All trees in the Heartstrings quest have Anima-infused Bark scattered around their base. Anima-infused Bark can be converted into Anima, a very useful crafting material.

Tree #1 Location

This is the memorial marker tree that triggers the start of the Heartstrings quest. Its location has been described in detail in the previous section.

Tree #2 Location

This tree is located directly east of the first tree, but in order to get there, you will have to circle around the chasm and fall down using Windstep. The safest place to jump off is at the southeastern edge, where you see wooden beams that look like scaffolding on the side of the cliff wall. From here, head south, then east, then north to find the tree.

Use Rock Explosion on any Tin or Copper Ore nodes you see along the way. These materials are required to make Bronze.

Tree #3 Location

Continue east from Tree #2, and you’ll easily encounter this tree guarded by a Garou Hunter.

Tree #4 Location

Just a little to the east of Tree #3, right next to a broken stone tower.

Tree #5 Location

Southeast of Tree #4, in the middle of a large Garou camp surrounded by large stone walls. Be careful as you approach; the Garou Druid can enhance other Garou fighters with buffs.

Tree #6 Location

Directly north of Tree #5. Take the road heading north, and you won’t miss it.

Tree #7 Location

North of Tree #6, just past the chasm. You can cross the chasm by walking over a broken log that’s acting as a makeshift bridge or by using Windstep. A large Garou pack is guarding this location.

If you’re constantly dying to the Garou enemies, place a Fast Travel point nearby so you don’t have to walk back long distances.

After interacting with the last tree, choose the option “Sing the bard’s song of remembrance.” This will complete the Heartstrings quest, and you’ll be rewarded with a complete Crystal Bow, as well as its crafting recipe. You’ll be able to make new Crystal Bows at the Smithing Anvil.
