RuneScape Dragonwilds will gradually throw stronger enemies at the players as they travel from one region to another on the map. Although most of the enemies you'll encounter can be easily defeated with an attack combo. Some will be tougher to fight and will require players to block and parry their attacks to get a win. Parry is an ability that players can unlock quite early on in RuneScape Dragonwilds, but it is one of the most crucial combat abilities to master.

How to Unlock the Parry Ability in RuneScape Dragonwilds

Players can unlock the Parry ability after reaching level 5 of the Attack skill tree in RuneScape Dragonwilds. To level up the Attack skill tree, players will need to engage in combat encounters more often. These encounters can be against various creatures in the forests, like rats or goblins roaming around the area.

Before engaging in a fight, it's best that you use a weapon like a club or a stone knife. Weapons will help you dispatch enemies more quickly, so you can defeat the enemy before taking damage. Once you gain enough Attack XP, you'll get a prompt in the top-right corner of the screen notifying you that the Parry ability has been unlocked.

However, before you can start parrying enemy attacks, you'll need to do something first.

How to Parry Attacks

To parry attacks in RuneScape Dragonwilds, players will have to craft a shield first. The shield is a requirement for the Parry skill to work, and is also a must-have if you're early on in the game to block incoming melee and ranged damage.

To craft a shield, you'll need to make a Crafting Table from the build menu. Once it's done, head into the crafting table menu, and you'll spot the Wooden Shield under the weapons category. You'll need 10 Ash Logs to craft a wooden shield, so chop down any trees nearby to gather them. Once the shield is crafted, equip it and press either "Right-Click" on a mouse or "LT" on a controller to parry/block.

To successfully parry an attack, you'll need to carefully observe an enemy's attack pattern. Once the enemy is about to land a blow on you, quickly tap the block button to parry the attack. This will stagger the enemy and allow players to deal additional damage.
