Woodcutting is one of the most basic skills players need to level up in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, and most of the time, wood will be essential to building, crafting, and spellcasting.

Runescape: Dragonwilds - How to Craft a Bow

Whether it's for hunting animals or monsters, a good bow in Runescape: Dragonwilds can get the job done.

So, let's take a look at how to level the Woodcutting Skill as fast as possible, as well as how to unlock its most basic skills, magic, and how critical harvest works.

How To Level Up Woodcutting Fast In RuneScape: Dragonwilds

The secret to leveling up Woodcutting faster in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, is to reach Levels 4 and 11 in this skill. These two instances unlock Overhead Chop and Axtral Projection, respectively, and with those two skills, leveling Woodcutting becomes even faster.

Start by picking up as many branches of Ash Logs as possible. They are spread across the map near the trees. Then, craft a Stone Logging Axe using 4x Stones and 4x Ash Logs.

From there, it is all about systematically cutting down trees until players can unlock Overhead Chop. By using the right-click, they can use a more powerful chop that uses more Stamina but cuts logs and stumps more effectively.

Chopping 5 to 6 trees will be enough to level up to 11, to unlock Axtral Projection: The woodcutting Spell. At this point, players should craft a Rune Altar to craft Astral Runes and Wind Runes.

By doing so, they can access the components required to cast this spell and accelerate their Woodcutting exponentially. Mind that using Axtral Projection consumes 5x Astral Runes and 10x Wind Runes, so craft a lot and follow suit to the woods: It's time to become a menace to nature.

If players need more runes to cast Astral Projection and Splinter more often, the best way to obtain them is to unlock the Rocksplosion spell from the Mining Skill tree, and then use it to get more Rune Essence to craft even more runes. It is also important to mention that Runes do not possess weight and are placed in a separate tab in the inventory, so craft as much as possible.

Keep working on the basic skills and crafting new stations to unlock better equipment and the next Tier of Tools, which includes the Axe. After that, it is all about the swing: Use Axtral Projection to down a tree (or several trees in a row), then approach and use Overhead Chop to cut the logs faster and gain tons of Woodcutting EXP. While the spell is on cooldown, players should use the regular chop to down more trees, and repeat the formula. Follow these tips for even faster leveling:

  • Mind the stamina bar, use the Axtral Projection when the Stamina depletes to keep logging.
  • Certain foods provide extra stamina regeneration. Try cooking some.
  • Try to make sure the tree logs are aligned next to each other before chopping them in the floor, as the hitbox will grab more logs at the same time, and that means more EXP. Use the terrain to force the logs to roll down the hill and pile up in the same place before cutting them down.
  • Don't forget to chop down the Stumps, as they provide extra EXP.
  • Check the Woodcutting Skill often for more information on unlockable effects and Skills.
  • Axtral Projection can be chained to cut down several trees. Aim for treelines and make sure that the cursor is highlights as many trees as possible, then release the spell for maximum gains.

How To Unlock And Use Splinter Spell

Piling Up Logs For Splinter Spell RuneScape Dragonwilds

The next Leveling tiers will unlock more useful skills, including the Splinter Spell, as well as small passives that reduce Stamina Consumption by 1% on each node. Then, upon reaching level 16, players will be able to unlock a passive that grants them a chance to find Bird Nests while falling down a tree. These lootables contain valuable materials and should be collected on sight.

Level 20 is the next node for players to unlock, as it enables them to cut down Thorns with Hatchets to clear blockades. Then, Level 27 will unlock the most useful Spell for Fast Woodcutting Leveling: Splinter.

It's a little expensive since it requires more runes (including Nature Runes), but what it does will increase the Woodcutting EXP by the heaps. Players need to take down several trees, then aim Splinter at the felled logs, and then release it to turn the logs into wood, gaining loads of Woodcutting EXP. Keep using Astral Projection, then Splinter, to max out Woodcutting in no time.
