Whispering Swamp is the players’ destination during The Dragon Slayer Quest in RuneScape: Dragonwilds. The Old Wise Man will give this mission to players to investigate their first Vault, which he refers to as the blue-flame door.
Inside the Whispering Swamp’s Vault, players can farm a lot of Clay, Rune, Vault Shards, and Rune Essence in RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Also, they can locate three Rune Vault Cores, which can be used to craft a Loadstone.

How To Reach Whispering Swamp In RuneScape: Dragonwilds
To reach Whispering Swamp, players must either head to the northeastern part of the map or proceed with the Dragon Slayer Primary Quest in RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Both will make players reach their destination, but the Quest marker will make it easier for them to locate the exact location of it.
Before embarking on a journey to the Whispering Swamp, players can prepare some poison potions since some of the enemies can inflict a poisoning effect upon attack, like the Putrid Rats.
How To Clear Whispering Swamp’s Vault In RuneScape: Dragonwilds
If players die inside the Vault, their items will spawn outside the Vault’s door.
To clear the Whispering Swamp Vault, head inside the Vault door and locate the three Vault Cores inside.
Vault Core #1
Once inside, walk to the north, but be on alert since two Giant Rats will ambush you from behind the broken column. Defeat them and continue walking north, then climb the western stairs to reach the next destination. Use the dodging skill to bypass the traps along the way, then enter the western room.
Three Vault Guardian Sentinels will be guarding the first Vault Core inside the room. If you're exploring the Vault alone, you can lure the enemies to traps one by one with a bow to help deal damage safely. After defeating them, collect the Vault Core and the treasure chest by the door, then:
- Walk through the door and turn west.
- Pass another set of traps.
- Defeat two Giant Rats inside the next room.
- Use the dodging skill to pass the traps.
- Enter the room.
- Defeat the four Vault Guardian Sentinels.
- Obtain the collectibles inside the chest in the right corner of the room.
Vault Core #2
Continuing forward will lead players into a room with three different routes: northern, western, and eastern. The stairs up ahead will lead players to their final destination, so players should explore the eastern and western routes firs t. The eastern road will lead players to the second Vault Core location in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
However, be alert since it is guarded by two Vault Guardian Sentinels and three Giant Rats. After defeating the enemies and obtaining the Vault Core, investigate the glowing statue behind it to obtain the Anti-Dragon Shield recipe in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
The western route only has one enemy guarding it, since it's guarding a simple chest that may contain a Tome, a crafting recipe, Value Shards, and other valuables.
Vault Core #3
Next, go back and take the western stairs, then:
- Pass the set of traps
- Defeat the three Vault Guardian Sentinels.
- Climb the stairs upward.
- Collect the chest on the stairs.
- Continue upward.
- Talk to Spitfoot to progress in the Dragon Slayer quest.
- Interact with the lever to open the shortcut route and the locked door inside Whispering Swamp’s Vault.
The unlocked door will reveal the location of the final Vault Core inside the Whispering Swamp Vault. It will be guarded by two Giant Rats and a Rat King. To defeat them, players can enhance their weapons with the Enhance Weapon: Fire Spell in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, then attack them. Once defeated, collect the Vault Core and chest, then make your way out.
