Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, an action-RPG that has a lot in common with the Diablo series, is getting remastered later this year. Sacred 2: Fallen Angel was originally released in 2008 for PC before making its way to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2009. A prequel to the original Sacred, Sacred 2 features two campaigns, a large world to explore, seven classes to choose from, unique mounts, and combat that will likely appeal to fans of Blizzard's Diablo franchise.
While it earned somewhat mixed reviews at the time of its original release, Sacred 2 has become a fan-favorite among action-RPG fans. Sacred 2 was known for featuring both online and offline co-op options, and it certainly filled a void left by the Diablo franchise for many years. Now the game is making a comeback on modern platforms, with an expected release for later in 2025.

Sacred 2 is Getting Remastered
Sacred 2 Remaster is expected to launch later this year for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, courtesy of THQ Nordic. The remaster will be largely faithful to the original game, but with some important changes. For instance, Sacred 2 will feature better graphics than the original game, as well as revamped combat and an improved UI. Notably, the Sacred 2 Remaster is also looking to fix the various technical problems that plagued the original game, which should result in a far more polished experience than what was on offer in 2009. Sacred 2 Remaster will offer the complete Sacred 2 experience, bundling all post-launch updates in with the base game. This means that those that only ever played the Xbox 360/PS3 version of the game will have some fresh content to experience.
Sacred 2 received an expansion called Ice & Blood that was initially exclusive to PC players in Europe. The content was eventually released as part of Sacred 2 Gold on Steam elsewhere in the world, but PS3 and Xbox 360 players have never had the chance to check it out. The Sacred 2 expansion offers a wealth of new content for players to enjoy, with new quests, regions, and more. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but extends the experience for those hungering for more Sacred 2 once they've had their fill of the base game.
With Sacred 2 getting remastered by THQ Nordic, one has to wonder if the other games in the series will get a similar treatment. Since Sacred 2 is a prequel to the original Sacred game, perhaps the latter will get remastered next. Sacred 3 is generally considered the worst game in the series, but for completionists sake, it would be nice to see it brought to modern platforms eventually as well.
