Dapperwing Location in Monster Hunter Wilds

There are some light spoilers in this post, so be wary!

After Monster Hunter Wilds players complete Chapter 3-5, they will "roll credits" for the game. Now, this doesn't mean that the game is over - there's still story content to see and new monsters to fight, so don't fret if you think the campaign is a little too short.

Upon returning to the Plains Base Camp after the last mission with a fight against Zoh Shia, a new Side Mission will appear in the tent by Alma and the gang. Speak to Samin (he's sitting in the chair in the back).

He's heard that you helped capture Endemic Life in the Plains for Dareel's Research Report quest, and he wants you to do the same, but for the Scarlet Forest. Specifically, Samin wants you to find and capture a Dapperwing.

How to Capture a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds

Ok, so we know that the Dapperwing can be found exclusively in the Scaret Forest, but the big question is where?

We managed to find a pair of Dapperwing sitting on a branch underneath a bridge on the stone path that connects Areas 10 and 12 in Scarlet Forest. You can use our images for reference. The spot in question is at the northern end of the corridor.

It's worth noting that it was daytime when we found the Dapperwings in this spot.

Once you find the Dapperwing, go ahead and aim your Capture Net and fire it to catch the animal. You can equip your Capture Net by using the quick select tool; you can also hold the left bumper and scroll using Square and Circle (on PS5) or X and B (on Xbox) to find the Tool. It'll be near the Fishing Rod, BBQ set, etc.

You can keep exploring the Forest if you want, or you can return to the Plains and speak to Samin to turn in the side quest.

During the Fallow, their plumage is a subdued green to match the vegetation, but once the Plenty arrives, males preen to the nines, adopting a vibrant color palette --presumably to court females since the more flamboyant males with larger feathers seem to be the ones flapping away with a date.
