With the release of Satisfactory 1.0, lots of new players are diving in and playing for the very first time. While things can feel rather slow during the early stages, after setting up the basics, things quickly start to get more exciting as the player builds new and more complex structures.

All Vehicles In Satisfactory (& How To Make Them)

Vehicles are integral for large scale factory operations in Satisfactory. Here's how to build them, as well as a list of all available options.

The game is a rather forgiving one. There are lots of settings that players can change to make things much easier or more difficult. Starting easy is usually the best way forward, especially for new players.

1 Picking Up Leaves

Pick Up Multiple Items While Running

Harvesting Leaves

Materials like wood and leaves are needed to keep the Biomass Burner running. It can feel a little tedious running around while repeatedly tapping E to pick up things on the ground. Luckily, holding E allows the player to pick up anything on the floor that they walk past. By doing this, players can run around gathering everything they see simply by holding the E button. While players will still need to go out and pick these items up by hand, holding E just makes it a bit easier.

2 Build Near Some Resources

Save Time Traveling Back And Forth

Factory Close To Resources

Selecting a good place for the HUB is important. If the player decides to place their HUB far away from resources, then they'll find themselves spending lots of time traveling back and forth from deposits to their HUB. While it is possible to pack things down and move, it can be a bit of a hassle, especially if the player has built a lot of things around their HUB. At the very least, players should try to place their HUB close to an iron deposit.

3 Select A Large Clearing For The Hub

This game is all about building and expanding. Almost immediately after building the HUB, players will start to expand their base to start crafting and automating things. If the player chooses to place their HUB close to a cliff or in the middle of a rocky area, then they will have a hard time expanding outwards. To avoid this, try to set up shop in a large clearing. This allows the player plenty of space to expand while also keeping everything looking tidy.

4 Make Use Of Hotbars

Make Crafting Much Easier

Satisfactory's helpful hotbars allow the player to assign a construction job to a number so that it can be built without having to dig through the building menu to find it. However, the normal hotbar only has ten slots for buildings, which may not be enough if a particularly large factory is being built.

Fortunately, the developers thought of this, adding the capacity for ten hotbars to scroll through. With the default controls, the player only needs to hold Alt and then use the scroll wheel to switch between the hotbars. Foresight like this is what makes the title stand out from the worst games in the genre.

5 Always Build Using Foundations

The number one aim of Satisfactory is, of course, to build a factory. One of the simplest ways to achieve that goal is with careful use of foundations. Placing foundations means other structures have something to snap to, so time isn't wasted aligning them. Most importantly, foundations help to plan out how big a factory will be and where various machines will go.

Foundations are also useful for alignment, ensuring structures run parallel or perpendicular. As the name suggests, foundations really are the building blocks of a factory.

6 Take On One Tier At A Time

Don't Overcomplicate Things. Take Things Slow

The Tier Tystem

There are lots of things that players can build in Satisfactory. When playing for the first time, knowing what to build first can be overwhelming. For the first couple of hours of the player's first playthrough, they should focus on going through the first few build tiers.

When starting out in Satisfactory, there are several things that players should keep in mind.

By doing this, the player will not only unlock things promptly, but they will also start to get their bearings as they learn how to use the various crafting menus and resources efficiently.

7 Take Note Of The Short Keys

Make Things More Efficient

Placing An Item While Showing Hotkeys

At the bottom of the screen, there is a list of keys. These are helpful keys that pertain to what the player is doing. For example, if the player is using a workbench, then a list of useful keys will appear showing all of the shortcuts and buttons that players can use to operate the workbench.

While a lot of them are fairly self-explanatory, some of the keys allow players to shift stacks of items, move a select number of items, and more. These keys can be very handy early on to make things more efficient.

8 Automate Crafting Early On

Lay Down The Groundwork To Make Crafting Easier

During the early stages, new players may feel like they need to do everything manually. However, creating machines that can help with smelting, crafting, and mining, can be made on day one. Standing at a workbench crafting iron ingots one at a time is a time-consuming and boring task. By taking a look through the build options (using the Q button), players can spend their time focusing on more important things as they let a few simple structures handle all of the conversion.

9 The Awesome Shop Is Awesome

A Must-Have Item For All Players

The Awesome Shop

Building the Awesome Shop is a great way to help obtain extra resources. Items can be purchased from the Awesome Shop, which can aid with completing milestones. Not only that but the Awesome Shop can be used to purchase various pieces of machinery that can save the player lots of time and resources.

The Awesome Shop is a Tier 2 item that can be unlocked very quickly after starting the game. The Awesome Shop is great both during the early stages of the game as well as in the late stages.

10 No Need To Click To Craft

Press The Space Bar And Wait

Crafting Iron Ingots

Early on, players will need to craft their items using a workbench. While it won't be long until the player starts automating things, during the first stages of the game, things can often feel a little slow. Instead of having to click or tap to craft an item, it's possible to hit the space bar once and craft multiple items. It will take time to craft them, but at least the player won't have to click for each thing that they want to craft.
