Inventory management can get tricky once you get to the later stages of the game in Satisfactory. When players are constructing a new automated factory to produce important resources, such as Automated Wiring, it's easy to run out of materials needed for the project. Making a supply run to the base is the only option left for most players at that point.

This is where the Dimensional Depot comes in. With this unique storage in your base, you'll have access to some of your essential resources even when you have no space in your inventory. We've compiled this handy guide to help you learn how to use the Dimensional Depot in Satisfactory and make your project management more efficient.

How Does the Dimensional Depot Work in Satisfactory

The Dimensional Depot is a building you'll unlock after completing certain research in the MAM. It'll be available in the Organization tab, with one conveyor belt input but no output. The items you store in the Dimensional Depot are uploaded directly to the cloud, which you can access from your inventory.

But uploading takes time, and in Satisfactory, if you want to upload something using the Dimensional Depot, you need to set up a conveyor belt system that directs those resources to the depot. After a while, the resources will get uploaded, and you can access them directly from your inventory without wasting a slot.

How to Unlock The Dimensional Depot in Satisfactory

Unlocking the Dimensional Depot isn't too complicated. You'll unlock it by completing the appropriate research in the MAM. However, before you can do that, you'll need to get your hands on a Mercer Sphere. This will unlock the Mercer Sphere Analysis research branch under the Alien Technology section in the MAM.

To complete the research, you'll need the following resources:

  • 1x Mercer Sphere
  • 11x Sam Fluctuator.

Since SAM Flactuator is a necessary component of this research, you'll need to unlock it via the MAM. To do so, you'll first need to find a good source of SAM Ore.

Once the research is finished, you'll be able to access the research for Dimensional Depot Uploader. Complete the research, and you can now build Dimensional Depot in Satisfactory.

The Dimensional Depot's upload limit will be low initially. However, Pioneers can complete more research in the Dimensional Depot Uploader branch to improve its performance. Here are the researches that are available:

  • Depot Expansion: Increases stack size of resources uploaded to the cloud
  • Manual Depot Uploader: Unlocks the ability to upload directly from the player's inventory
  • Uploader Upgrade: Increases the resource upload speed.

Apart from Manual Depot Uploader, players can upgrade the branch multiple times. The research, however, will cost Mercer Sphere, and since they spawn randomly in hard-to-reach areas, you'll have to spend quite a while hunting them all down.

There are a limited number of Mercer Spheres in each game world.

With several Dimensional Depots constantly uploading the necessary resources, you won't have to make multiple trips back to your main HUB to stock up. This will make all your remote construction projects more efficient, and that’s what Satisfactory is all about.
