At its core, Satisfactory is an automation game. It gives the player the opportunity to live out their factory management desires, bringing the gameplay mechanics of Factorio to a three-dimensional world with depth and height. The game features a lot of resource collection, storage management, and production lines.

Initially, the player has to do a lot of the things by hand. Automation is the final reward, and getting there involves a lot of legwork. Therefore, Blade Runners should be your number one priority to unlock when you boot up the game. Blade Runners are leg equipment that makes your life significantly easier, especially in the early portions of the game.

What Do Blade Runners Do in Satisfactory

Blade Runners are leg equipment that players can craft once they advance to a certain point in the game. These mechanical legs do exactly what you might expect them to, they make you better at moving around.

First and foremost, they increase the movement speed of the player by 50%. This means that you'll be running around much faster, letting you complete tasks at a much higher rate. Additionally, they double your jump height, letting you reach the top of two stacked storage units. They also dampen fall damage.

How to Craft Blade Runners in Satisfactory

The crafting meny for blade runners in satisfactory

Blade Runners need to be crafted at the equipment workshop. However, they need to be unlocked first. Unlike most of the buildings and items in Satisfactory, Blade Runners cannot be obtained through the milestone tiers. Instead, they are locked behind a research node in the Molecular Analysis Machine, or MAM for short.

The MAM is a tier 1 milestone reward under Field Research. Completing Field Research requires x300 Screw, and x100 Iron Plate. Both these materials are unlocked as craftables during the Tier 0 onboarding process. Once unlocked, build the MAM using your build gun, requiring x5 Reinforced Iron Plate, x15 Cable, and x45 Wire.

  • At the MAM terminal, research the Quartz tree. This will require the player to find a Quartz node first and harvest at least one Quartz. Deposits of this mineral are mostly rock, with pink crystals protruding out of them. Once you have ten Raw Quartz, you can feed them into the MAM, and obtain the ability to scan for the mineral, making harvesting it much easier.
  • To unlock the Blade Runners, you'll need to unlock the three total research nodes. The first one requires x10 Raw Quartz, the second one requires x20 Raw Quartz, and the node to unlock Blade Runners themselves requires x50 Silica and x10 Modular Frame

Modular Frames are unlocked at Tier 2, under Part Assembly, which needs x200 Cable, x200 Iron Rod, x500 Screw, and x300 Iron Plate.

  • You'll need x15 Reinforced Iron Plate, and x60 Iron Rod to make x10 Modular Frame. X30 Raw Quartz will make x50 Silica.
  • After unlocking the research node, you'll be able to craft the Blade Runners at the Equipment Workshop. You'll need x20 Silica, x3 Modular Frame, and x3 Rotor (which is also unlocked from Part Assembly).

How to Use Blade Runners

The player equipping Blade Runners in Satisfactory

After you've crafted the Blade Runners, you can navigate to your inventory, and drag them into your leg equipment slot. After that, you'll be able to run faster and jump higher than before. To maximize the movement speed gained from Blade Runners, players should use the technique of Slide Jumping.

Similar to B-hopping in FPS games, players can chain together jumps in Satisfactory. If they crouch right before landing, they'll gain a small movement boost, and jumping right after that will continue that boost till their next landing. This technique mostly only works on level ground or on a downhill slope. It takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, your character will be flying through the world, barely touching the ground unless they're going up a slope.
