Polymer Resin is a mid-game resource in the game that you'll find once you reach the Oil Processing milestone in Tier 5. This guide will help you learn all you need to know about how to get Polymer Resin and what to do with it in Satisfactory.

How to Get Polymer Resin in Satisfactory

In Satisfactory, Polymer Resin is obtained as a byproduct from the Refinery while producing specific recipes. You’ll need a Refinery to get it and a steady supply of Crude Oil to keep up production. You can set up a pipeline from an Oil Extractor leading into the Refinery to ensure a consistent flow of Crude Oil.

You can't use Portable Miners to extract Crude Oil from Oil nodes in the game.

Once you have your Refinery set up correctly, there are three recipes that you can use to get Polymer Resin:

Since Polymer Resin is a solid byproduct, you’ll have to remove it via a Conveyor Belt. Otherwise, it will start backing up and interrupting your production chain even when you’ve got the Refinery hooked up to a Fluid Buffer for storage.

Players can connect a Conveyor Belt from the Refinery’s output to a Storage Container to collect all the Polymer Resin they produce. Alternatively, you can also send it to AWESOM sink to get coupons.

If you’ve got the Alternate Recipe: Polymer Resin unlocked, it gets easier to ensure a good yield. However, since the production ratio for it is pretty poor from both Fuel production and Alternate Recipe: Heavy Oil Residue, you won’t get much value out of it.

Where to Use Polymer Resin in Satisfactory

Whether you’re producing Fuel or Heavy Oil Residue, you’ll eventually end up with a good quantity of Polymer Resin. If your Refinery is connected to an AWESOME Sink, you’ll passively generate FICSIT Coupons. But Polymer Resin also has other uses.

You can use Polymer Resin to produce the following items:

With only Water as the secondary resource, Polymer Resin can produce Fabric, Plastic, and Rubber, making it a useful byproduct of Fuel processing. Since Water is easy to find in all starting areas in Satisfactory, and the production ratio is decent, diverting Polymer Resin to an alternate Refinery to produce these resources is the best thing you can do with it.

You'll still want to connect it to an AWESOME Sink to prevent backing up.

Polymer Resin is essential in Fabric, Plastic, and Rubber production. Now that you know the steps, you should have no trouble setting up your oil processing plant to give you a good yield of Polymer Resin in Satisfactory.
