The release of Satisfactory 1.0 has seen tons of new players flock to the game. With the influx of new players, there are lots of beginners out there who need some help getting set up. Automation, resource management, and resource collecting are all things that new players will pick up over time.
For the most part, early on, it's worth sticking to the milestones and tiers, building each item in order. That said, there's no wrong way to play; Satisfactory is all about trial and error. The space elevator, for example, is a very costly item to build early on, but it is definitely worth having as soon as possible. This guide will detail how to set up the space elevator — and exactly how soon you can add this incredible build to your base.
13 Beginner Tips For Playing Satisfactory
From the importance of careful conveyor belt placement to the benefits of verticality, here are some useful tips for Satisfactory players.
How To Build The Space Elevator In Satisfactory
As mentioned, the space elevator is a costly item to build during the early stages of the game. The ability to craft the space elevator is unlocked in Tier 0, Milestone 6. It is a huge structure, so be sure to find a large open place to build it. Crafting the space elevator costs the following materials:
- Concrete: 500
- Iron Plate: 250
- Iron Rod: 400
- Wire: 1,500
Obtaining the resources to craft the space elevator is pretty easy. If you want to get it done early on, then place a handful of portable miners over the required ore deposits. While the portable miners passively gather ore, join in and start mining ore next to one of the portable miners to speed up the process. Alternatively, work on setting up some basic automation to help gather the materials quickly and efficiently.
Once you have all the materials, simply open up the build menu, select the space elevator, and place it down in a large open area.
Once it has been built, the space elevator can be taken down and rebuilt for no cost. So, don't worry too much if you want to move it later on.
What The Space Elevator Does In Satisfactory
The space elevator is one of the largest structures in the whole game. Watching the build animation is very impressive on its own. However, the space elevator is more than just an awe-inspiring structure. The space elevator is used to complete project assembly phases. These play an important role in the game's progression.
By completing the space elevator phases, you'll unlock new build tiers within the HUB, allowing you to make more complex items. The main purpose of the space elevator is to transport items to FICSIT HQ. By completing each phase, you'll learn more about the reasons why you are on this alien planet.
