Yuito Sumeragi is one of the two main protagonists of Scarlet Nexus. The opposite of Kasane, he leads a squad that consists of Luka, a teleporting Septentrion; Hanabi, his childhood friend; Tsugumi, a soft-spoken clairvoyant; and Gemma, a protective older brother figure.
As one of the game's main characters, players will be spending the most time with Yuito. Thankfully, interesting details about this character will keep the player engaged while playing as him. There are also a handful of aspects of the character not that many people may know about, simply because these bits of information are more subtle or hidden.
6 His Last Name Means Emperor
Yuito's last name is Sumeragi, meaning "emperor" in Japanese. The Sumeragi name is also associated with the Japanese Imperial house. This family name fits with Yuito's character, considering his lineage. In this game's time, a man named Yakumo Sumeragi – Yuito's ancestor – founded New Himuka 2,000 years ago with the support of the people.
Yakumo Sumeragi was more than just the people's leader; they also considered him their hero. The man was so beloved that society looked up to him as a deity, even praying to him on a daily basis. The Sumeragi last name is perfect for someone as revered as Yakumo.
5 Future Yuito's Blind Eye & Facial Scars
Prior to the release of the game, one of the trailers highlighted a ronin-type figure. Those who have played the game now know that this character is, in fact, Yuito from the future. However, back then, the man's identity remained a secret. This didn't stop a lot of people from correctly assuming this character's real identity, though.
Certain interesting character design choices for Future Yuito link him to the present-day Yuito. In the future, Yuito has gone blind and his eyes have turned gray. He also has a scar streak across his face. These character designs for Future Yuito are noteworthy because in the present day, whenever Yuito activates his Brain Field, similar streaks appear on his face and his eyes also glow. Perhaps these things are the reason why Yuito goes blinf and exhibits his facial scars in the future.
4 Physical Details
Yuito's birthday is on New Year's Day, January 1st. He is only 16 years old, which is incredible considering the feats he's already accomplished in the game, in his rookie year in the OSF, no less.
According to his official description, Yuito is 173cm tall, making him as tall as Shiden. He has red streaks in his hair, which seems to be artificially dyed since he didn't have them when he was younger. At the time the game takes place, these match his red eyes — however, as mentioned above, his eyes fade to gray in old age.
3 When Yuito Cooks
One of the most interesting things about the characters in Scarlet Nexus is how fleshed out they are. These characters aren't simply fighting machines; they also have various interests that make them more relatable and likable. For example, when Yuito is not training or fighting Others, he loves to cook.
It's also apparent that Yuito is a good cook, judging by how often his companions compliment his cooking. There's also one other cook in the team, Kyoka, but her skills aren't exactly up to par with Yuito's. The game has a very interesting way of portraying the differences between Yuito and Kyoka's cooking, demonstrating the difference in their skills. Whenever Yuito cooks, the food he makes is always clear and clean. As for Kyoka, however, her food appears dirty, messy, and unappetizing. Perhaps he could give her a few pointers.
2 Yuito Represents The Minority Of The Society
The society within the world of Scarlet Nexus is divided into two sections: those with powers, and those without. The latter group of people is referred to in the game as "duds," and most people look down on this group. However, a few OSF soldiers actually are born duds, and their powers are instead artificially implanted in them later in life. Yuito and Luka are two of those people.
There's a very interesting difference between Yuito and Luka's reaction to this side of their life. Yuito is more accepting of it, often acknowledging that there's more to life than powers. Luka, on the other hand, fears becoming a dud again, fully realizing society's reaction towards people like him. Yuito's characterization makes him a perfect representative of this world's group of minorities. Instead of being afraid of this side of himself, he accepts it fully. He even looks forward to continuing to help people in the future, as a powerless individual.
1 Yuito's Voice Actors
The players can choose between two languages while playing Scarlet Nexus: English and Japanese. Yuito's voice actors are Junya Enoki for Japanese, and Chris Hackney for English. Both of these voice actors have tons of work in their portfolio prior to this role. Players may have already heard either or both of them unknowingly, while watching a movie, series, or playing another game.
Junya Enoki has lent his voice on shows like Beyblade Burst, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Jujutsu Kaisen. He is also the official Japanese dub voice actor for Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, Chris Hackney has worked on shows like Tower of God and One Punch Man, and video games like Code Vein and Pokemon Masters.
