Summary
- TVGS releases new Schedule 1 beta update.
- The update is available now, replaces employee beds with lockers and adds new item slot filters.
- A full release for the update is expected next week.
A new Schedule 1 update is now available in Steam's beta branch, which not only replaces employee beds with lockers, but also adds item slot filters and makes numerous improvements and bug fixes. After its gigantic Steam release back in March, Schedule 1 continues to receive a steady stream of new updates. Many of the game's patches have added new pieces of content for players to check out, with TVGS now confirming that a player vote will soon go live for the next major content update.
After being in beta for a few days, the last update for Schedule 1 went live on May 8, adding a new storage unit property known as "Stash & Dash," a jukebox item, and more. It also included a handful of bug fixes and general improvements, including the continued consolidation of the game's save files. Tyler, the game's solo developer, has been combining Schedule 1's save files into larger combined files in order to improve save times and prevent Steam Cloud Sync from corrupting. The developer has been gradually improving the files with each passing update, with the latest beta update now marking the final improvement.
Schedule 1 Faces a Case of Indie Game History Repeating Itself
Schedule 1 is one of 2025's most successful games, but unfortunately, it is suffering from a problem that many other indie titles have faced.
After Tyler teased the addition of a helpful new Schedule 1 feature yesterday, the developer has now released the highly anticipated update in the game's beta branch. According to the official patch notes, which can be found further down this article, the update has finally replaced employee beds with lockers, a feature fans have been requesting for weeks now. The update has also added item slot filters, which allows player to set whitelists or blacklists on slots to tell employees which items should or shouldn't go in a particular slot. There are also numerous bug fixes and improvements in the update, including an increase in employees for the storage unit, which now allows 3 employees to be hired at the location.
The update is expected to be released fully next week, but those looking to get in on the action beforehand will need to opt into the Schedule 1 beta branch on Steam. This can be done by locating Schedule 1 on Steam, right-clicking the game, and navigating to Properties, then selecting Betas and changing the Beta Participation to Beta. Of course, it is important to bear in mind that the update is in beta for a reason, which means there could be unexpected bugs, performance issues, or more that could result in some gameplay problems. Should the update have no major issues, it will likely be released in full next week.
While plenty of fans around the world will be eager to check out the new update, players based in Australia will be disappointed as Schedule 1 was recently removed from Steam within the country. While many quickly jumped to the conclusion that the game had been banned, Tyler clarified that the game required an age rating/classification. The developer assured players that it would be back on Steam soon, as he has already contacted the ratings agency and is hoping for a swift resolution.
Schedule 1 Beta Patch Notes for Update 0.3.6
Important note for this beta
This beta includes the final phase of the save file consolidation effort (replacing lots of little save files with a few big ones). NPCs and properties now save entirely under a single file, which means saving will be a lot faster, and Steam cloud syncing should finally work properly. In case of any bugs, please be sure to make a backup of your save game before playing it on this beta. You can use the export/import buttons in the main menu to do this easily.

Additions
- Added lockers. These will be replacing employee beds. For compatibility reasons, employees will still be assigned to beds in existing saves, but going forward, you can use lockers instead, which are more space-efficient and can store more stuff.
- Added item slot filters. You can now set whitelists or blacklists on slots to tell employees which items should or shouldn't go in a particular slot.
- Added employee property transfers.
Tweaks/Improvements
- Increased storage unit employee capacity to 3.
- Consolidated all NPC save files.
- Consolidated property save files.
- Consolidated business save files.
- Changed the trash can pickup area to be square instead of circular.
- The trash can pickup area is now visible while you're placing the trash can.
Bug fixes
- Fixed occasional NPC long-distance pathing failures.
- Fixed occasional employee pathing failures.
- Fixed employees sometimes attempting to pick up items that they don't have the inventory capacity for.
- Fixed botanist-related performance issue.
- Fixed police showing question marks above their heads while they're unconscious.
- Fixed viewmodel drifting.
Let me know how this update goes for you! I think the item slot filters, combined with the lockers, will make employees much more usable now. Saving should also now be much faster and work nicely with Steam cloud sync.
