It can take players a good while to become a kingpin in Schedule 1. However, that empire is only a corrupted save file away from collapsing, forcing you to start from scratch. Since the game is in early access, its save file can get corrupted for several reasons, including using too many mods or console commands. So, to avoid losing your progress randomly, you can create a backup of your save file. Let's check out where you can find it.

Save File Location for Schedule 1

Safe File Location Schedule 1

To find the save file for Schedule 1, players will have to go digging in Windows Explorer. After finding the save file, you'll need to back it up in a secure location, like another folder or on an external drive. Let's check out how you can find the save file first.

  1. Press the WIN + R key to open the Windows Run Utility.
  2. Type "AppData" into the field and press Enter.
  3. Once you're in the AppData folder, browse to LocalLow\TVGS\Schedule 1\Saves\Your Steam ID.

Depending on how many save slots you've created in Schedule 1, you'll either find a single Savegame_1 folder or multiple. You have the option to back up a particular save slot data by looking at the number at the end of the folder, i.e. 1,2,3,4, etc. Now simply copy the folders into another location, and you're done. Your game's progress is now safe.

Additionally, you can follow the method above to add or swap another save file with your current one.

How to Save Your Game in Schedule 1

How To Save Schedule 1

Schedule 1 does not have a traditional autosave feature, where the game periodically saves your progress after every transaction or once you unlock anything. So, players will have to rely on manually saving their game through two methods: either by sleeping on the bed or by interacting with the intercom in their safe house.

Sleeping is a major mechanic in the game that lets you skip the night and wake up at a particular time. This mechanic is only active at night, as you can't sleep during the day, so anything you do before sleeping is unsaved, unless you finally get some shut-eye.

A reliable mechanic to save your game without sleeping is the intercom inside your safe room. Interacting with the intercom will immediately save your game, but there's a 60-second cooldown for some reason. Either way, make sure to periodically save your game to avoid losing your Schedule 1 progress in the event of a game crash.
