Scream 7 - These Characters Could Be The Perfect Replacements For Sam And Tara

Scream 7 has undergone some drastic changes since it was first announced, after the huge success of Scream 6. The initial plan for Scream 7 was to complete Sam and Tara Carpetner's story alongside fellow Core Four members, Chad and Mindy Meek-Martin, but Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega's exits led to a complete rethink. Scream 7 will now focus on Sidney Prescott and her family, and it's been rumored there'll be a time jump to put two of Sidney's kids into their teenage years, and these two characters could be ideal replacements for Sam and Tara.

The bond between the Carpenter sisters was a massive part of Scream (2022) and Scream 6, and it'll be a shame not to see that relationship progress. However, Sidney's daughters could fill the void left by Sam and Tara in Scream 7. The original plans for Scream 7 could be incorporated into the new plan for the movie, with some of Sam and Tara's storylines transferring to Sidney's kids.

Ghostface Could Possibly Target Sidney's Daughters In Scream 7

Ghostface will be shifting his murderous focus onto Sidney Prescott in Scream 7, with Sam and Tara's story coming to an abrupt end in Scream 6. Rumors suggest Patrick Dempsey is in talks to reprise his Scream 3 character, Mark Kincaid in Scream 7, as he is now married to Sidney, with the couple having three kids together.

If the rumored five-year time jump happens, Sidney and Mark's two oldest kids will be the prime age to be a target for Ghostface. Historically, Ghostface likes to target teenagers, as he did so with a 17-year-old Sidney in the 1996 original Scream. So it's quite likely Ghostface will focus his attention on Sidney and Mark's teenage daughters in Scream 7. Neve Campbell revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight that the plot will be focused on Sidney, but her teenage daughter's will surely be an extension of that focus.

The Prescott/Kincaid teens could be the new final girls for Sidney to mentor in Scream 7, and they could possibly be the future of the franchise. If Ghostface does target the sisters in Scream 7, it'll be reminiscent of Sidney's original battle with Billy Loomis and Stu Macher's Ghostface killers in Scream.

Sidney's Daughter's Could Fill The Void Left By Sam And Tara's No Show

Sam and Tara's battles with Ghostface killers in Scream (2022) and Scream 6 brought them closer together as sisters, and it was something new for the Scream franchise, to focus on two final girls related to each other. The franchise has always featured siblings, with Dewey and Tatum Riley in the first movie, and Sam and Tara's Core Four friends, Chad and Mindy, in Scream (2022) and Scream 6. Aside from these more traditional sibling pairings, there was also Sidney and her long-lost Ghostface killer brother, Roman Bridger, and Randy and Martha Meeks, who unfortunately never shared any screen time, due to Randy's untimely death in Scream 2.

With the sister dynamic very fresh in the audiences' minds after the last two movies, Scream 7 could continue the sibling final girl thread despite Sam and Tara not being present. Sidney's daughters could find themselves in a similar predicament to Sam and Tara if Ghostface targets them as a way of getting to Sidney. Neve Campbell is the only cast member to be officially signed on for Scream 7, but it's almost certain that Sidney's kids will feature in the storyline.

When the plan for Scream 7 was to feature Sam and Tara's story once again, a script had actually been written by Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt. The rewrite of Scream 7 that now focuses on Sidney, could use some of the ideas for Sam and Tara rather than waste them. Of course, there would have to be changes to specific details directly related to the Carpenter sisters, but the ideas based upon the bond between sisters, and the plans for the joint sibling fight against Ghostface could be transferred directly onto Sidney's kids.

Sidney will be a very different final girl in Scream 7, as her priority shifts towards protecting her offspring. One of the ideas for Scream 7, when the Carpenter sisters were still featured, was to kill off Tara and focus on Sam's descent into darkness. It's a possible option for Scream 7 to kill off one of Sidney's kids, but it would be a better idea to see Sidney's reaction to one of her kids being killed instead of the surviving daughter's response. After years of backstory with her character, it would be more impactful to see Sidney fight back against Ghostface. Sam and Tara's relationship was built up over two movies, but it would feel forced to see Sidney's surviving daughter take a dark turn, like Sam might've done in old plans for Scream 7.
