Sega has announced its lineup for the upcoming Gamescom event, including a new title that has yet to be announced. Gamescom is an annual gaming event that takes place in Germany and draws in thousands of fans and industry insiders for the chance to play some of 2024's upcoming titles, with publishers like Bandai Namco, Take-Two, and Xbox, among others, being present. Sega has announced its presence at Gamescom as well, along with some of its games.

Some of the titles that will be highlighted at Gamescom 2024 are Sonic X Shadow Generations and Metaphor: ReFantazio. Sonic X Shadow Generations is an enhanced remaster of the 2011 original, adding a new story campaign that is from Shadow the Hedgehog's perspective. Metaphor: ReFantazio is a brand-new action RPG from Atlus, helmed by some of the creators behind the Persona franchise. However, another game will also be at the show, that has yet to be announced.

In a new statement from Sega, courtesy of Video Games Chronicle, the publisher claims it will "complete its lineup" of playable titles at the Sega exhibit by including an unannounced project. Nothing about the title is known, other than it will be revealed over Sega's social channels. The wording of "unannounced project" means that this game hasn't already been showcased before, so it's unlikely to be some of the revivals that the publisher previously announced, like the Crazy Taxi reboot.

Possible Sega Games For Gamescom 2024

Another possible game that could be showcased at Gamescom is a title recently trademarked by Sega, supposedly titled "Yakuza Wars." Based on this trademark, it could be a subtitle for the next Like a Dragon game, or a completely unrelated game from the series. For the time being, fans will need to wait for more information about what Sega is planning for Gamescom.

In terms of what is known, Sega announced that there would be plenty of photo opportunities. A giant seeker statue from Metaphor: ReFantazio will be present at Sega's booth, giving fans a chance to take a picture with it. Not only that, as a part of Sega's Year of Shadow celebration, fans will be able to take a picture of a custom-built Shadow the Hedgehog-themed motorcycle. Sonic will also be in attendance posing for photos with the fans. Alongside these photo ops, both Metaphor Re: Fantazio and Sonic X Shadow Generations will have hands-on demos that players can try out, which likely will be the same demos that were previously available to play during Summer Game Fest this past June.
