Players looking forward to From Software's latest title, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, will finally be able to get their hands on the multi-platform action-adventure video game soon. Of course, there could be some out there who are still on the fence about purchasing the new release. With this being the case, the development team behind Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has decided to put out a new trailer that provides an overview of the gameplay that one should expect from the title.

To start, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice's overview gameplay trailer touches on the story, explaining that the plot follows the titular protagonist, Sekiro, who is also nicknamed "The Wolf". Before becoming a shinobi, as a boy, Sekiro was taken in by The Owl, and was then eventually assigned to protect a new master known as The Divine Heir. The Divine Heir is a young boy and descendant of a mysterious bloodline, and is a target of the Ashima clan.

At one point in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice's story line, Sekiro and The Divine Heir encounter the leader of the Ashima clan, who not only severs Sekiro's arm from his body, but also kidnaps his master in the process. Following this, The Wolf must recover his master at any cost, and will use a multi-purpose tool of a shinobi prosthetic arm, giving him various abilities in both traversal and combat.

For instance, in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, players will be able to equip the prosthetic arm with a grappling hook, a loaded axe to break shields, a loaded spear to pull enemies closer, and a flame vent to set baddies ablaze. Players will also be able to utilize shuriken and firecrackers for stuns, and can deflect heavy attacks with the loaded umbrella, with a mixture of all these elements supporting Sekiro's primary weapon - the sword.

Like with previous From Software games such as Dark Souls and Bloodborne, combat in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will require players to think strategically when it comes to approaching their enemies, as the same tactics will not be successful with every enemy. There will be moments during certain enemy advances and boss fights where Sekiro's opponent will require one to make a split-second decision to either parry the attack - risking great harm to themselves in the process - or dodging to prepare for a new approach. There will even be plenty of moments for silent eliminations for certain enemy types. Should players die during any of these encounters, there's always the chance to respawn, but with certain stipulations.

As far as progression elements are concerned, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice players will be able to unlock new skills following successful battles. These will help one in combat insofar as both offense and defense is concerned. What's more is that progression will see players discover new tools to upgrade Sekiro's prosthetic arm, as well as items like gunpowder, for instance, to facilitate certain upgrades.

All things considered, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice definitely looks to be imbued with the DNA of what makes a From Software game in more ways than one. The studio has even said that it believes the forthcoming title to be "more challenging" than any of its previous efforts. Thankfully, we won't have to wait too much longer to discover its difficulties for ourselves.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is set to release on March 22, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
