There are a lot of interesting upgrades for Wolf’s Shinobi Prosthetic in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The four strongest prosthetic upgrades require Lapis Lazuli, an extremely rare upgrade material that players need to be very meticulous about getting.
In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the Loaded Axe, Loaded Shuriken, Flame Vent, and Sabimaru all reach their ultimate form through the use of Lapis Lazuli. The four Prosthetic Tools require a total of 10 Lapis Lazuli to fully upgrade, but getting that much is much easier said than done.
Each piece of Lapis Lazuli is found by either defeating some of Sekiro’s toughest bosses or completing late-game side quests. Here is how to get each piece and how much each Prosthetic Tool requires to upgrade.
How to Get Lapis Lazuli in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Players can get a total of six pieces of Lapis Lazuli in each game cycle by completing side quests and defeating certain bosses. Getting those six pieces is quite difficult, as players need to clear some very high hurdles to get just one.
Here is a list of each piece of Lapis Lazuli and how to get it:
- Two pieces are dropped for defeating the Demon of Hatred, but players do not receive the reward if they cheese the boss by making it run off a cliff
- One is dropped by the Shichimen Warrior mini-boss found in the Fountainhead Palace stage
- Two are available for sale by the Pot Nobles, with each one costing six Treasure Carp Scales
- One is given as a gift for feeding the Truly Precious Bait to the Great Carp in the Fountainhead Palace during the Pot Nobles questline
Only these six pieces of Lapis Lazuli are available during a game cycle, and there is no way to unlock them or drop them to other players. Because of that, players cannot upgrade all their prosthetic tools in one playthrough, and will need to progress deep into new game plus in order to get the accompanying PS4 trophy.
It is strongly recommended that players get all six on their first playthrough, then get the three from the Pot Nobles and one from the Shichimen Warrior on new game plus. The Demon of Hatred is one of the most difficult bosses in FromSoftware history, and it doesn’t get easier in new game plus.
What to Do with Lapis Lazuli
There are a total of four Prosthetic Upgrades that require Lapis Lazuli to unlock. Players can purchase them from the Sculptor as they do with any other upgrade. The items that require it and the number of pieces required are as follows:
