Who is Percival?
When we first meet Percival, he and his grandfather Varghese are isolated on top of a small land high above the clouds called God's Finger. He was raised with love and care here under Varghese's watchful eyes. However, we soon discover that Percival is one of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse in the Seven Deadly Sins, also known as the Knight of Death. Early in the series, we meet Percival's father, Ironside, a Holy Knight of King Arthur and one of the Four Evils of Camelot. Contrary to his loving grandfather Varghese, he has a deep hatred for Percival. Only later in the manga do we learn who Percival really is.
Percival is a Life Spirit who was summoned into the vessel of a deceased baby. Ironside exclaimed he came across the corpse of the seventh prince of an unknown Kingdom after the wagon transporting them fell off a cliff by accident. However, as the baby Percival had already passed during this accident, Ironside took this chance to summon a Life Spirit into his body.

Unfortunately for Ironside, Varghese quickly stopped this plan by running away with Percival. Varghese then chose to live quietly with Percival on God's Finger. As a result, Percival could develop a personality and learn his magic called Hope. However, after 16 years of living as Percival, he loses all his memories of ever being a Life Spirit, and it is only during the Demon Realm Arc that he learns the truth.
How did Percival Learn the Demon Language?
The Demon Realm is known to connect to various areas in Britannia through an ancient relic in the Realm. One day, when Percial was a toddler, around two years old, he wandered into the Demon Realm from God's Finger. However, unlike normal humans, Percival survived the harsh environment due to being a Life Spirit.
While in the Demon Realm, he healed the Demons affected by the Behemoth, who had begun to rampage. After healing many Demons on the verge of death and putting the Behemoth at ease, Percival was hailed as the Savior of the Demon Realm. Zeldris, the current Demon King and younger brother of Meliodas, also viewed Percival as his son.
What are Percival's abilities?
As mentioned previously, Percival is a Life Spirit who gained self-awareness after being raised with love by Varghese. It was thanks to this that he was able to manifest his own magic, called Hope. This ability allows Percival to tap into the hope of his allies and transform it into a magical light-green aura around him.
This ability can be used in a variety of ways. One of Percival's standout abilities is healing, as he can heal others and himself within seconds. Another one of his abilities that first manifested was his enhanced strength. From this, Percival can manipulate his aura to attack his opponents. This ability is also handy as it gives Percival and those coated in his aura flight.
Aside from his Hope magic ability, thanks to Lancelot and his grandfather Varghese, Percival is also a skilled swordsman. His weapon of choice is the Percival Sword, crafted from the Coffin of Eternal Darkness. With this weapon in hand and merging his magical abilities into it, Percival becomes a force to be reckoned with.
