One beloved star from Severance was originally portrayed as a lot darker and colder than what they finally came across in the series, and now, fans get a first look at a previously undisclosed audition video that shows off the character's more sinister side and how they were actually meant to be perceived. Severance season 2 finally arrived in January 2025 after a long three-year hiatus to confuse fans all over again with its strange yet captivating narrative.
Starring Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette, Severance season two took viewers deeper inside the walls of Lumon Industries than ever before, as Mark tried to understand why and where Ms Casey had disappeared to. Just like its first season, fans were left in the dark for much of its return regarding what Lumon was actually up to with their severed employees, and also what was happening with Ms Cobel as she fought to return to MDR so she could watch Mark complete Cold Harbor, one of the biggest Severance mysteries. However, the episode’s final moments revealed that the severed Helly R is still present, leaving the question of whether Helena was in charge the entire time or if her love for Mark is real after all.

Severance’s Ms. Casey Was Originally Much Darker Than What Fans Saw
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Severance star Dichen Lachman, who played Mark's wife, Ms Casey, showed off her original audition video before joining the series, in which her character was portrayed as a lot more aggressive and colder than her detached and robotic personality as the "wellness director" on the severed floor. The video shows Ms. Casey in one of her wellness sessions with Irving B., although the camera is completely focused on Lachman, but instead of her usually soothing, if not quite robotic, way of speaking, the character's tone is chilling, stoic and hostile.
Lachman explains that during the audition period, Ms Casey's identity was heavily guarded so that no one knew exactly who or what she was meant to be, so Lachman and the rest of the cast had very little context on where the character was going in the story. However, Lachman was selected because she had what the Severeance producers were looking for in their Ms Casey character in terms of "beauty, mystery, complexity, and her instincts were on point from the very beginning."
In March, director Ben Stiller put fans' worries at bay that Mark, Helly and Ms Casey's nail-biting cliffhanger at the end of Severance season 2 wouldn't be the end when he confirmed that he was "starting up our Season 3 work." Thankfully, Stiller also put to bed rumors that the show's return might take another 3 years to air. “No, the plan is not, and hopefully, we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon, Stiller expressed. Even though Stiller and Dan Erickson are aiming for a shorter gap between seasons, Severance season 3 is unlikely to premiere before late 2026 or early 2027.
