Like almost every metroidvania before it, Shadow Labyrinth contains numerous collectible items for the player to discover. As you make your way through the game, one of the most common collectibles you encounter will be the Sparking Stones. However, like many of the elements in Shadow Labyrinth, there is very little direction or hand-holding when it comes to knowing what to do with these special stones. In this guide, we'll show you how to find and where to take the Sparkling Stones in Shadow Labyrinth.
8 Metroidvania Games With the Best Combat, Ranked
Metroidvanias often pair exploration and discovery with brutal combat to challenge players. These titles have some of the best combat in the genre.
Where to Take Sparkling Stones in Shadow Labyrinth
Progress to the Land of the Fugitives:
Before you can do anything with your Sparkling Stones in Shadow Labyrinth, you'll need to reach Bosconian Village in the Land of the Fugitives. To reach this region, you'll have to pass through the following areas:
- Remote Prison
- Barren Volcano
- Sky-High Tree
- Torn Lands
- Giant Black Tower
- Land of the Fugitives
Once you reach the village, you'll meet the Chief , and her daughter, Anpulane. Anpulane is the NPC that collects Sparkling Stones, but you will not be able to offer the stones to her when you first meet. You'll need to complete the duel with Thebe, then set off into the Forbidden Lands in search of the Spark-Bit and Dimension Warp Capsule.
Once you leave Bosconian Village and enter the Forbidden Lands, you can return to Anpulane and turn in the stones. Turning in the stones will earn you a total of five rewards, each given at a specific milestone. The final reward is given after turning in 98 Sparkling Stones, which may be the total number of Sparkling Stones found in the world.
Anpulane is found in Bosconian Village's throne room. Enter the chamber directly left of the Bosconian Village Miku Sol. Inside, you'll find Anpulane standing in front of the throne. Speak to her to initiate the process of returning the stones.

How to Get Sparkling Stones in Shadow Labyrinth
Collectibles & Combat:
There are two main methods of finding Sparkling Stones in Shadow Labyrinth. The first method, which accounts for the vast majority of locations, is through simple explorations. Shadow Labyrinth features two main collectible types: Red Crystals and Yellow Crystals. Red Crystals contain all the Max HP & ESP upgrades, High-Grade Materials – essentially all gameplay-related items.
Yellow Crystals are your typical non-essential collectibles. Many of these will be lore tablets, and unfortunately, there is no way to tell before picking one up. This is important, because Yellow Crystals also have the potential to be Sparkling Stones. You can begin finding Sparkling Stones as soon as you begin exploring, but there is no real reason to begin looking for them in earnest until you unlock ACTIV Shot, Double-Jump, and ESP Quake. All of these abilities are acquired before or just after gaining access to Bosconian Village. With those three abilities, you'll be able to reach all locations in the game.
The second method of acquiring Sparkling Stones in Shadow Labyrinth revolves around special combat encounters. Like many metroidvania games, Shadow Labyrinth features locked combat chambers, which force you to defeat every enemy before you can leave. While it is quite rare, every once in a while you'll receive a reward for completing a combat chamber, which is often a Sparking Stone.
You can also find Sparkling Stones by killing the special sparkling flying robots. These are almost always found tucked away in small, hidden chambers. These enemies are usually impervious to sword attacks. You must use ESP Actions, such as ESP Blast or ESP Grenade, to defeat them. Once you defeat them, use the GAIA's Devour mechanic. Make sure you save enough ESP to use Devour, or you will miss your chance to get the stone.
These are currently all the methods of acquiring Sparkling Stones that we have discovered so far. If we discover anymore, we'll add them here.
