The Death Mask Helm is a headpiece armor that belongs to Wego, an elder among the Fire Knights in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. The knight was drowning in loneliness, so he found solace in the spirituality of Messmer's flame. Sadly, the soulless bodies he summoned didn’t comfort him at all.

Players can obtain the Death Mask Helm by exploring a hidden area in the Church District, Shadow Keep. Usually, it is submerged in water and can't be accessed from anywhere except for the rooftops of existing buildings. However, Tarnished can drain it from water and collect some valuable items.

To get the Death Mask Helm in Shadow Of The Erdtree, you must defeat the Fire Knight Wego in the building northwest of the Sunken Chapel Site of Lost Grace. It can be considered a mini-boss fight, as he has a larger health bar than normal enemies and will spawn others to help him.

Fighting Wego, the Elder Fire Knight is annoying, as the enemy will keep spawning spirits that follow Tarnished and explode near them, causing decent damage. Additionally, Wego will repeatedly cast the same fire spell and hurl it toward you over and over again. So, make sure to equip armor with high fire damage negation and try evading the running spirits while landing hits on Wego.

Upon defeating him, he will drop the Death Mask Helm. The headpiece reduces FP used to summon spirits by 12%. While it’s not part of a set, players can still wear it with the Fire Knight Set in Elden Ring SOTE, as that’s what the boss was wearing.

How To Reach The Church District In Elden Ring Shadow Of The Erdtree

First, travel to the Church District Highroad Site of Lost Grace and ride Torrent northwest to arrive at the Church District Entrance Site of Grace. From here, you need to jump on top of the buildings to reach the lever that drains the water.

Jump northwest onto the roof and continue east to the Fire Knight. Descend to the lower roof and then turn south to jump on one of the arches. Drop into the hole to land on another arch, then look ahead to find another hole. Find the room that’s full of bats and climb the ladder inside to find the lever that drains the water.

Head back to the Church District Entrance Site of Grace, and move southwest towards the Sunken Chapel to light the Site of Lost Grace. Enter the nearby building to find Wego, Elder of the Fire Knight.
