Shirley Curry is probably best known as the beloved grandma who's Let's Plays of Skyrim have made her the subject of much adoration. Though she recently made changes to her YouTube channel after a string of mean comments, many consider her a formidable player of the Bethesda epic. Now, it looks as though she's been immortalized in a mod.
Posted to Nexusmods earlier today, Shirley is an unofficial add-on for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which adds her to the game and will allow players to hire her as a follower. The description on the page says the mod was a "love letter" to everyone's favorite online grandma. It's also worth noting that the mod developer actually approached Shirley with the idea, to which she expressed delight.
The mod was hinted at just over a year ago. Back in January 2020, it was announced that Grandma Skyrim would be appearing in the game. A video posted gave a little tease as to what her character model would look like. The video spliced in several iterations of Shirley's YouTube greeting where she begins her playthroughs by saying "good morning, grandkids." The video then shows her character model as she turns around and addresses the player in the same way.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is no stranger to the modding community. Mods alter or improve the game in various ways, such as through graphical tweaks, new missions or even the mod that adds a penguin to the game as a follower. Whether the latter will be as popular as Shirley's mod remains to be seen.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available on every major platform. The Elder Scrolls 6 is still in development.
