When it comes to huge Shonen magazines, the most popular has been Weekly Shonen Jump from Shueisha for quite some time now. Weekly Shonen Jump has seen the serialization of many of manga’s most iconic series ever. Over the decades, Weekly Shonen Jump has had a huge hit in every generation, which includes the likes of Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, and many other series.
Jujutsu Kaisen And MHA Are Over, But These Next Gen Series Are Just As Good
Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia were massive hits, but there are some pretty good stuff that started serialization in the past few years.
However, with the recent conclusion of series like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, Weekly Shonen Jump is now in its weakest phase yet. Right now, One Piece is singlehandedly carrying the magazine, but Shonen Jump has already chosen the new series to invest in. These series will, hopefully, be the new pillars of Shonen Jump, and they include series like Kagurabachi and Ichi the Witch.
Shonen Jump Reveals The Series That Will Carry Its New Generation
Weekly Shonen Jump suffered a massive hit last year. Two of its biggest series, Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, ended back-to-back. This has left a huge gap in the magazine to fill, and it will only get worse as more series, such as Sakamoto Days, also approach their end.
Weekly Shonen Jump needs new hits, and it seems the magazine has already chosen who it will be investing in. Spotted all around Japan, fans have seen Weekly Shonen Jump advertising 6 new series together.
These series are very recent, and the oldest one dates back to just 2022. These series have shown great potential for the magazine, and they are as follows:
- Kagurabachi by Takeru Hokazono
- Ichi the Witch by Osamu Nishi and Shiro Usazaki
- Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi by Shouichi Usi
- Hima-Ten by Genki Ono
- Nue’s Exorcist by Kouta Kawae
- Shinobi Undercover by Ippon Takegushi and Santa Misarashi
Fans should definitely expect more from these series in the future as Weekly Shonen Jump tries to push them to a wider audience in hopes of achieving new success through them.
In this world… magic… is alive. Living magic, called Majiks first contacted humanity long ago. — Narrator in Ichi the Witch
Amidst all this, though, fans were surprised to see that Akane-banashi was absent from this lineup. After all, it’s also a hugely successful new manga series, dating back to just 2022. However, it seems that Weekly Shonen Jump sees it as more of a veteran series now, especially as its anime has already been confirmed for 2026.
Kagurabachi Is Currently The Biggest New Manga
These six series all have immense potential, but out of them, one especially stands out, and it’s Kagurabachi. Kagurabachi is a manga from 2023, and it seems to be Weekly Shonen Jump’s biggest new manga. For a manga with no anime, Kagurabachi has been selling incredibly well, and it’s only growing.
It's Real: A New Gen Mangaka Helped Horikoshi With My Hero Academia's Final Arc
MHA's Horikoshi had some help during the series' final arc from a popular new-gen hit mangaka.
Every morning when I wash my face and look in the mirror… I see this scar… And I remember that day. So every day… I start the morning with fresh hatred.— Chihiro
Kagurabachi is also going to be the first to get an anime out of the six as well. There have already been reports of a Kagurabachi anime being in the works, although that awaits official confirmation still.
Weekly Shonen Jump Is In Dire Need Of New Hits
Weekly Shonen Jump is far from its peak at the moment. Sales aren’t what they used to be when series like Jujutsu Kaisen were running, and that’s definitely unfortunate. That also means, however, that this big gap left will allow new series to rise.
When I was a kid, I thought peace came back immediately after a war ended. Guess our stories aren't over just yet. — Izuku Midoriya
When Dragon Ball and Slam Dunk ended, that’s when One Piece started, and it was able to rise to the top. Similarly, with Naruto ending in 2014, My Hero Academia was able to rise through the ranks just a year later. If fans are receptive to these new Shonen Jump mangas, they could definitely come to see new major hits in just a few years. Either way, Weekly Shonen Jump is entering a brand new era.
Kagurabachi, Ichi the Witch, Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi, Hima-Ten, Nue’s Exorcist, and Shinobi Undercover are all new series from Weekly Shonen Jump. All six series are available to read on Manga Plus. New chapters for each series drop weekly.
