Despite the content not having much human life in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Gestrals still populate the land and act as recurring NPCs for your expedition to interact with. The Gestral Village is one of the first areas you visit during Act 1, and there's a lot that can be missed if you run straight through.

Most Gestrals can be interacted with, and while most just have some basic dialogue lines, others are worthwhile to stop and chat with. While this game doesn't have a side quest menu and notifications for them, there are a lot of side quests to complete that are started by just talking to anything you can. One Gestral in the Gestral Village will offer to sell you Excalibur, claiming it to be an incredible sword that even shoots lasers, but is it worth 1,000 Chroma?

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - 7 Ways It Stands Out As An RPG

Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 has provided a much-needed breath of fresh air for RPG fans, and it achieves this in a few unique ways.

Should You Buy Excalibur In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Excalibur only costs 1,000 Chroma, though no matter where you're at in the game and how much Chroma you have, it's not worth purchasing. The big reveal on purchasing the sword is that it is actually just a Wooden Stick, and the Gestral will quickly change tunes, making it seem like you knew you were only buying a wooden stick the whole time.

This interaction is mostly played off as a joke, as Gestrals are shown to be silly despite the bleak world they live in. The dialogue seen after the exchange isn't even worth the Chroma to see, and overall, this should be skipped whenever you see the offer.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Best Side Quests That Are Easy To Miss

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has some great optional content, but some of it can go overlooked. Here are the best side quests gamers might have missed.

What Is The Wooden Stick Used For In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

The Wooden Stick In The Player's Inventory

While every other quest item in the game has a use that can often be shockingly helpful, the Wooden Stick is truly useless. It forever stays in your inventory and can't be used or dropped, forever reminding you about the time you were scammed by a Gestral. If, for some reason, you do want to carry around a Wooden Stick often used by Gestral children as a toy, you can always come back and get it later in the game, even up to Act 3 and the post-game, though it truly is useless and not worth the cost.

Should a use for the Wooden Stick eventually be found, this article will be updated, though at the time of writing, not a single use has been found for this item despite extensive searching.
