Sifu is one of the best pure action titles to come out in quite some time. The game doesn't hold anyone's hand and beats its mechanics into players until they either get it or give up. Repetition is a huge part of what makes Sifu such an engrossing game, with each run letting players learn more and more about the levels they're trying to get through before finally beating the boss and moving on to the next stage.
The game isn't exactly the longest title around, so players might be at a loss when it comes to what to do after completing the entire experience. Thankfully, modders are here to save the day with a whole host of changes that can freshen up the experience. These include the various skins that players can download to improve the uniqueness of each run as they take on the role of various established characters from other IPs. The best of the bunch are mentioned below.
10 Daredevil
Daredevil is one of the most iconic superheroes of all time. His hand-to-hand combat skills are unmatched and make him a great candidate for a character model swap in Sifu.
Donning the costume of this masked superhero and laying waste to enemies is a ton of fun. Given how Daredevil is used to beating the snot of shady guys, this mod is almost a perfect fit!
9 Batman
The Caped Crusader is a popular hero who has recently received a brand-new movie that people can't stop raving about. Everything from Robert Pattinson's performance to his amazing costume are standout highlights in the new Batman movie.
Fans can take this obsession a step further and port this character into Sifu as well! Given how adept Bruce Wayne is in martial arts, it only makes sense that he would be a great fit for the role of a martial artist who's out for vengeance.
8 Shaggy
At a glance, Shaggy from Scooby-Doo seems like a rather odd choice for a skillful martial artist. However, fans of the game who are well versed with a popular meme about this character know exactly why he's a great fit.
The Ultra Instinct form from Dragon Ball Super was absolutely groundbreaking... And some people thought it would be funny if Shaggy got this form instead. The idea was absolutely ludicrous and made for one of the best memes around, including a character model swap where Shaggy would go Ultra Instinct against the baddies of Sifu as well!
7 Neo
The Matrix is renowned for its amazing fighting scenes that use martial arts to deliver some excellent action. At the heart of this movie is Neo, a relatively unknown hacker who turns out to be an all-powerful entity known as The One.
Playing as this character in Sifu is nothing short of an absolute blast. The way his cape floats around while the player is delivering some truly damaging punches never ceases to be entertaining!
6 Carl "CJ" Johnson
The iconic protagonist of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been modded into almost every game imaginable. It's a testament to the massive impact this sandbox game had that CJ is still widely remembered amongst the gaming fandom to this day.
So, it was only a matter of time before modders would put this character into Sifu as well. It's a completely ridiculous idea... And yet, there aren't many things that given players as much joy as knocking martial artists out while controlling Carl Johnson.
5 Bruce Lee
Out of all the character models that fans can download, the iconic Bruce Lee is perhaps the most fitting on this list. This legendary figure is arguably responsible for popularizing martial arts movies in the West to begin with, and other popular figures such as Jackie Chan have contributed to this notion as well.
Controlling this character in Sifu just feels so right. To top it all off, the modder has put in extra work to incorporate a custom moveset for this character as well!
4 Scorpion
This iconic fighter from Mortal Kombat is a worthy inclusion on this list. He has been a mainstay in the series from the very first game and is a fan favorite due to his unique personality and amazing moveset.
Using this character to dish out a ton of pain on Sifu's enemies is a blast. The only downside is that this character never utters his iconic "Get over here!" Catchphrase in the game, which is a big missed opportunity.
3 Kakashi
Naruto is an anime full to the brim with iconic characters, including the legendary Kakashi Hatake. The leader of Team 7 has consistently played a vital role in the story and never fails to charm viewers with his amazing personality.
Fighting enemies as Kakashi in Sifu is an amazing experience that could've only been accomplished through mods. Perhaps using his Chidori or Sharingan could've been even more fun, but that would be asking a bit too much.
2 Spider-Man
Everyone's favorite webhead is easily the most popular and beloved superhero around. Peter Parker is a character everyone can relate to, and watching him come to grips with his powers and become New York's savior is a story that everyone is familiar with at this point.
This friendly neighborhood Spider-Man might not be known for his martial arts prowess, but his close combat skills are nothing to scoff at. Watching this character beat down enemies in Sifu is a novel idea that could only be possible on the PC.
1 Tifa Lockhart
The Final Fantasy games feature job systems that are either pretty subtle or major gameplay components. In the case of Final Fantasy 7, characters had fixed abilities and traits that corresponded to the iconic jobs that have been present in these games since time eternal.
Tifa took on the role of a Monk, a job class known for beating enemies into submission with their bare hands. Can anyone really question why she's a great fit for a character swap in Sifu?
Sifu was released on February 6, 2022 and is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
