Silent Hill 2 Remake features eight new endings for the game unlocked in the New Game Plus mode, compared to the six endings in the original. The 'Stillness' is one of the new endings that gives players a different conclusion to James' journey through the Town.

It's nice to see the Bloober team staying true to the source material of the original Silent Hill 2 while inserting a fresh take of their own in the Remake.

How to Get the New 'Stillness' Ending in Silent Hill 2 Remake?

Item required to get Stillness Ending in Silent Hill 2 Remake

Players can get the Stillness ending for Silent Hill 2 Remake by acquiring the Toluca Postcard in the Otherworld version of the Lakeview Hotel.

This seemingly ordinary postcard has a picturesque view of the Lake itself that players need to inspect in their inventory. Let's take a look at the steps players need to follow in order to get the Toluca Postcard in Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Players need to get the "In Water" ending before they can unlock the "Stillness" ending in Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Pick Up Chainsaw in the New Game Plus Mode

The Chainsaw is a special melee weapon that can be unlocked in the New Game+ mode for Silent Hill 2 Remake. Whether you're a fan of this special weapon or not, you'll have to pick it up to retrieve an important item to get the Stillness ending.

Players can find the Chainsaw stuck in a log right outside Silent Hill Ranch in the New Game Plus mode. This is important as James doesn't get a melee weapon until he reaches the Eastern South Vale area of Silent Hill. So, you'll need the Chainsaw to break into a car's window and retrieve a key item.

Get the Key of Sorrow

After picking up the Chainsaw, you'll need to find a green car and break its windows with the Chainsaw to get the Key of Sorrow. The green car with the Key of Sorrow is located right after the Silent Hill Ranch (location marked on the map).

So progress towards the town until you get a Glimpse of the Past by examining the blocked tunnel (where you encounter the first lying figure in the original Silent Hill 2). Enter through the chain-linked gate into the tunnel and players will spot a green car to the left after exiting it.

Break the windows of the green car until you see a prompt to pick up the Key of Sorrow. After receiving this key, you need to play the rest of the game normally until reaching the Otherworld version of the Lakeview Hotel.

Unlock the Manager's Office Safe in Otherworld Lakeview Hotel

As the last step to get the Stillness ending, you'll need to get the Toluca Postcard from the Otherworld Lakeview Hotel. After progressing through all the locations in Silent Hill 2 and reaching the Otherworld version of Lakeveiw Hotel, players need to reach the Manager's office on the 1st floor.

In the office, you'll see a safe lying in the corner of the room next to the ruined desk. Interact with the safe and use the Key of Sorrow on it. Now enter the code 314 to open the safe. The note beside the safe is about 312, which can be taken as a hint to the safe's combination.

After the safe is opened, players will receive the Toluca Postcard. Now all you have to do is inspect it within your inventory and complete the game as normal. After the final boss fight in Silent Hill 2 Remake, you'll get the 'Stillness' ending.
