Heather Mason was somewhat unusual among survival horror game protagonists at the time of the game's release, back in 2003. PlayStation 1 and 2 survival horror games did feature a number of adult female main characters, like Resident Evil's Jill Valentine, Parasite Eve's Aya Brea, and Dino Crisis' Regina, but teen-aged playable characters in survival horror were much rarer. With Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill 2 both following an adult male protagonist, switching to Heather's perspective was somewhat of a risk, but she's a popular character among series fans.

Nekosandra shared their Heather Mason cosplay with fans on the Silent Hill subreddit, with strong attention to detail paid to Heather's overall look. Heather's iconic outfit has been replicated very well, with everything from the wrist straps to the thin orange layer above her boots present. Nekosandra also carries one of Silent Hill's most iconic weapons, a rusty pipe, with a couple of the pictures being taken in a subway station, referencing early sections of the game.

Many have appeared in the comments to compliment nekosandra on the cosplay, with many calling it accurate and perfect.
