Following the massive success of Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake and positive reception to the newly launched Silent Hill f, the beloved survival horror franchise has announced an unexpected collaboration with State of Survival, a zombie-fighting RPG. Originally launched as a mobile exclusive, the apocalyptic strategy title has since made its way to PC and hopes to make an even bigger leap into mainstream gaming with an upcoming Silent Hill crossover event.
The Silent Hill game franchise is considered by many to be one of the best survival horror series ever made, with many praising its psychological terrors, oppressive atmosphere, and iconic characters, all of which have combined to keep the IP beloved decades after it initially debuted. While State of Survival has yet to reach the same level of acclaim, an upcoming collaboration with the horror juggernaut looks to draw in new players, particularly fans of Silent Hill 3.
Silent Hill: First Impressions Will Be Everything For Bloober's Next Remake
Bloober Team is remaking the first Silent Hill, though this project will require a particularly unique design and writing approach.
Silent Hill Collaboration with State of Survival
State of Survival and Silent Hill will be teaming up for a special limited-time event, Terror in the Fog, that will see Heather Mason entering a chaotic, zombie-filled world and battling for survival. Players will be able to guide Heather, who is often considered one of the best characters in the Silent Hill games, through new story missions, mini-games, and even a unique boss fight against Silent Hill 2 antagonist Pyramid Head. Terror in the Fog will be playable in State of Survival from October 29 through December 10 and will be available on Android, iOS, and PC via Steam.
While some fans of Silent Hill 3 are happy to see Heather Mason making her way back into the spotlight, others are disappointed that the Terror in the Fog collaboration is only available for a limited time. A few fans have also voiced confusion over the blending of Heather with Pyramid Head, since the latter serves a very particular purpose for Silent Hill 2's lead, James Sunderland. Despite mixed audience reactions to the announcement, the Terror in the Fog crossover event in State of Survival marks a major achievement for the strategic zombie survival game and could be a positive indicator of Heather's continued popularity within and beyond the Silent Hill branding.
For players looking forward to a much bigger return for Heather, the upcoming Silent Hill remake by Bloober Team has many expecting a subsequent remake of Silent Hill 3, though this has not yet been officially confirmed. Still, the use of Heather in the State of Survival Terror in the Fog collaboration has given audiences hope that one of the best Silent Hill games might remain a priority within certain circles behind the scenes.
