Silent Hill f's file size and pre-load dates for both its Standard and Deluxe versions have been revealed, letting players know how much space they'll need to free up on their hard drives and when they can start downloading the game. Fans of the horror franchise have been eager to dive into Silent Hill f' s content for nearly three years now, and pre-loading it ahead of its release date will make that wait just a little bit shorter.
Silent Hill f' s release date is set for September 25 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, providing the newest original entry in the series since the free-to-play Silent Hill: The Short Message launched in January 2024. The game was first announced in October 2022 as part of a Konami livestream showcase, and it aims to recapture an authentic Japanese horror feeling by moving the series out of its Maine-based roots and into the fictional town of Ebisugaoka.
Silent Hill f Confirms Controversial Detail That Might Not Sit Right With Fans
Silent Hill f will include many of the franchise's frightening features, but one new detail has some prospective players concerned.
Silent Hill f File Size and Pre-Load Dates
- Download Size - 36.637 GB
- Standard Edition Pre-Load Date - September 23, 2025
- Standard Edition Release Date - September 25, 2025
- Deluxe Edition Pre-Load Date - September 21, 2025
- Deluxe Edition Release Date - September 23, 2025
With the game's official launch just about two weeks away, the file size and pre-load dates have now been officially revealed, showing that players will have two full days to download the game before they're actually able to play it. For Standard Edition players, that means they'll be able to begin the download on September 23, according to Twitter account PlayStation Game Size. But those who are willing to shell out the extra $10 for the Deluxe Edition can start playing on that date, with their pre-load date also falling two days early, on September 21. It should only take about 12 or 13 hours to beat Silent Hill f, which is actually on the long side for a Silent Hill game, historically speaking. It also means plenty of Deluxe Edition players are likely to have completed it before Standard Edition players have even had the chance to play.
Either way, players on PlayStation 5 will want to make sure that they've got at least 36.637 GB of hard drive space free, as it will be required to download the game. While the Xbox Series X|S and PC versions haven't had their file sizes leaked yet, that's a particularly small number for a major AAA game release. Ghost of Yotei's file size on PS5 is reportedly more than twice as big, at around 85 GB, with live-service shooter Helldivers 2 currently weighing in at a massive 140 GB and growing on PC.
The change of setting won't be the only thing longtime fans will find different when diving into the game. Producer Motoi Okamoto confirmed in August that Silent Hill f will be more action-focused than previous entries in the series, with melee combat that has had some preview players comparing it to a soulslike.
