Fans who have wanted to try P.T. (Playable teaser) ever since Konami delisted it from the PS Store have at least something similar to look forward to. It might not be as scary or complex to figure out, but it still gives a good taste of what’s in store for the rebirth of the Silent Hill series.
Silent Hill: The Short Message is that playable experience, exclusive to PS5 and can be completed, as the name suggests, in a short session. It was shadowdropped in the recent State of Play. How Many Chapters Are There in Silent Hill: The Short Message?
Anita’s story is set in an abandoned, crumbling apartment block in modern-day Germany. As players experience Anita’s traumatic familial past with her closest friends, there is always hope that she will rise above it all to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The experience is divided into three main acts, with each one functioning as a loop, bringing Anita back to where she first started, albeit with slight alterations. Every iteration of the loop brings back new revelations and opens Anita’s eyes to existing unpleasant truths that she may have chosen to lock deep down in her own mind.
Upon completing the three chapters, the players will have finished Anita’s story. There are still some lore bits and secrets that some folks might have missed on their first run. Thankfully, after completing the story, the game gives players the option to select from the list of three chapters if they are not too keen on replaying the entire thing.

How Long is Silent Hill: The Short Message?
All three chapters are roughly the same length. This does not necessarily mean the content in each chapter is as expansive, but more so, the difficulty of some of the encounters that players face in the later chapter is higher, naturally leading to more retries and time consumed.
If players progress the game at a leisurely pace, exploring every corner and taking their sweet time to read, contemplate, and digest the journal entries, they should be expecting somewhere around the two-and-a-half-hour mark.
More seasoned horror video game players may be able to work out things faster and handle encounters better, so they can cut down the total length to under two hours. In terms of how this length translates on a chapter basis, each chapter will last between 40–45 minutes on the first blind playthrough.
