After reaching the Citadel in Silksong, players are faced with a less linear progression path than the progression path of Act 1. If you can get to the top-right of the Choral Chambers area, you can unlock a new settlement within the Citadel, where fan-favorite pilgrim Sherma will eventually show up.
Hollow Knight: Silksong - Interactive Map (Pharloom)
Our interactive map for Pharloom in Hollow Knight: Silksong. All the skills, tools, benches, and more found in the game.
Sherma doesn't stay for long, and after players discover the Whiteward and return to Songclave, they will discover Sherma has ventured below to fetch medical supplies for his fellow pilgrims – and discover a new quest to find him.
This guide explains how to complete the Balm for the Wounded quest in Silksong, including where to find Sherma in Silksong and what you get for saving this cute lil bug from the horrors of the Whiteward.
How to Start Silksong Balm for the Wounded Quest
To start the Balm for the Wounded quest, you must unlock Songclave by ringing the Grand Bell in the top-right of the Choral Chambers. Return to this area later on to discover that it has turned into a Town hub, which adds a new Wishwall.
Pick up the White Key to the right of the Grand Bell, then unlock and explore the Whiteward area.
By the time you return to Songclave, Sherma should appear amongst the pilgrims. Talk to Sherma, then leave and return later on to discover that Sherma has departed. Pick up Sherma's quest on the Wishwall to start Balm for the Wounded, then head back down to the Whiteward to save Sherma.
Balm for the Wounded Quest Walkthrough
Where to Find & Save Sherma in Silksong
Head into Whiteward from Choral Chambers and sit at the bench on the right side of the first room to save your location. Jump down the shaft, then take the first exit on the right instead of dropping all the way down. Follow the path to the right, then drop down the hole, and you will land on top of a trackable object.
Interact with this object to Track Sherma, then follow the trail as it winds through the Whiteward.
-
The trail will initially lead Hornet to the right through a room filled with giant masked enemies wielding scissors.
- Take care to time your Swift Step sprint into a jump and dash to safely get over each of these enemies in the room.
- Track the second object on a platform between spikes in this long room. This will continue Sherma's trail, leading Hornet further right. Once again, avoid the enemies, then follow the trail upward.
- The trail will lead to a room that Hornet can enter. Go in, then break the breakable wall on the right side, to find Sherma's location in the Whiteward.
Talk to Sherma, who is shivering in fear, having seen the brutality and faith-challenging horrors of the Whiteward. Sherma will say that he found healing supplies, got trapped, and then started to hear moans in the dark.
After a moment, a variety of challenging enemies will appear in waves.
- Defeat the three flying enemies that wield tentacle-like silk strands with your own Silk Skills and Tools, as they can be hard to get close to and hit with the Needle.
- Defeat the two scissor-wielding enemies with pogo attacks (downward slashes in mid-air) while taking care to avoid being hit by its rapid, Two-mask-damage-dealing attacks.
Silksong Balm for the Wounded Quest Reward
After defeating the waves of enemies, you will have successfully saved Sherma. He will return to Songclave, but not before giving Hornet something he found while looking for supplies.
For finding Sherma and saving him from the horrors of the Whiteward, he will reward Hornet with a Spool Fragment. Hornet can combine 2x Spool Fragments to increase her maximum Silk by 1 bar.
