After reaching Shellwood to the left of Bellhart, players must make their way around almost the entire area to wrap back around and find the Sister Splinter boss. Silksong players have had some trouble beating Sister Splinter because of its powerful Triple Slam attack, its ability to summon allies, and moves that block off parts of the boss arena with vines, making it harder to avoid its slam.
If you can learn how to anticipate Sister Splinter's moves, and understand how to effectively avoid its slam while managing the vines and other enemies in the room, you should find a flow to beat this boss without too much hassle.
Follow this guide to learn where to find Sister Splinter in Shellwood, how to beat the Sister Splinter boss in Silksong, and what you will get after downing this freaky root-monster.

Where to Find Sister Splinter in Silksong
Deep Within Shellwood, to the Left of Bellhart
To get to Sister Splinter, you must progress through the lower layers of Shellwood until you reach the far left shaft leading upward. Make your way up, then take the top-right exit to enter a large room that houses a Weaver statue at the very top.
For now, exit the room via a door on the right, platform to the right through the next room, then unlock the elevator shortcut above the central Bench. From the central Bench, take the elevator up and go right, jump and slash flowers to get to the top-left of the next room, then continue left until Sister Splinter appears.
Optimal Sister Splinter Runback Route & Closest Bench
The best Bench for the Sister Splinter fight is the central bench in Shellwood, which connects to the elevator shortcut you should unlock on the way to the Sister Splinter boss fight. You can unlock this Bench earlier in the zone for a steep 60 Rosaries.
Take the elevator up, exit to the right, then make your way around the room in the far top-right of the zone until you reach two white flowers leading to the top-left exit (above the entrance to the room). Downward slash onto these flowers to get across, then keep going left to safely get back to Sister Splinter.

Triple Slam |
Raises one arm briefly before slamming down in a slightly diagonal arc. Alternates between left and right three times. |
Dodge in the opposite direction of the slam – if its right hand is active, dodge to the left. Dodge the two follow-up slams the same way. This is Sister Splinter's primary attack. When it summons thorny vines that block off the room, it can be incredibly difficult to avoid without taking damage from something. Use Silkspear (or break the vines with your Needle) to create more room to dodge away. |
|
|
Summon Ally |
Sister Splinter roars, then retreats into the ceiling. Up to two spaces on the wall light up, indicating the location where flying allies will spawn. These enemies can fly through thorns. |
Attack the boss as it roars, you can get about 4 or 5 hits in during this animation. Use Tools and the Silkspear ability to dispatch the flying enemies as fast as you can. |
|
|
Summon Thorn Vines |
Retreats into the ceiling, then a beam will indicate the direction a long thorny vine will launch into the floor. These vines take three hits to break, and multiple can be summoned at once. |
If there are only one or two thorn vines, simply hit them with your needle to break them and free up more space in the boss arena. If there are more than two, consider using Silkspear to break multiple at once and save some time (though you will have to wait longer to Bind and heal). |
|
|
Multi-Thorns |
Retreats into the ceiling, then six beams will appear across the top of the room. After a moment, thorn vines will launch into the ground from the outside in, severely limiting the amount of space Hornet has to maneuver. As Hornet breaks vines, more will take their place. |
Move between two of the beams to avoid taking damage from the thorns, then use Silkspear to break multiple vines at once instantly. |
Sister Splinter Boss Tips & Tricks
-
If you do not have enough Silk to cast Silkspear during the room-blanketing Multi-Thorn attack, get to the center of the room, then rapidly hit the two thorns on both sides when they appear.
- After clearing the middle space, go toward one wall and hit vines on the way. Though vines will respawn as you destroy them at first, they will stop respawning after about three waves.
- Make sure you clear at least three thorn vines worth of space to have room to dodge the slam.
-
Traps and Tools that can damage enemies in mid-air are practically essential for the parts of the fight when a flying ally appears.
-
Foe example, the
Longpin
is thrown in an arc like a spear, and can hit both Sister Splinter and any flying enemies at the top of the arc, even if they are near the ceiling out of Hornet's normal reach.
- Tools are also incredibly useful for dealing with the Multi-Thorn attack. Longpin will pierce through vines in its way. Spam this Tool to quickly break multiple vines at once (if you have enough Tool ammo to spam it, that is).
-
Foe example, the
- If you can time your dodges well, you can jump up and attack Sister Splinter in between each of its slam attacks, netting a handful of additional hits during this move.
What Happens After Beating Sister Splinter in Silksong?
After you beat Sister Splinter, Silksong players will unlock access to the rest of Shellwood. Most notably, the exit to the left of the boss arena leads to the top half of another room Hornet ventured through earlier. Make your way around the central pillar and you will find a weaver statue.
Bind in front of this statue to get the Cling Grip ability. This is an extremely useful movement ability for Hornet as it allows her to grab onto vertical surfaces and wall jump. Getting the Cling Grip ability allows players to continue through Shellwood to the Widow fight to save Bellhart, but you can also return to old zones to explore previously-inaccessible areas with this skill.
