While playing Hollow Knight: Silksong, you will come across all sorts of mysterious items that you might not know what to do with.
One of these items is called a Frayed Rosary String that can be found pretty early on in Hornet's journey and can actually prove to be very useful for buying items from Merchants.
It's worth noting that the Shell Shards you get from defeating enemies aren't for purchasing items, but for crafting.
The description of the Frayed Rosary String states that it is a "worn string holding a meager amount of rosaries" that can be broken to release loose rosaries, but how do you actually use it in Silksong?
Hollow Knight: Silksong Can't Forget One Thing That Made The Original Tick
If Hollow Knight: Silksong wants to be as successful as its predecessor, it must ensure that it retains a certain aspect one might not expect.
How Do You Use Frayed Rosary Strings in Silksong?
Break 'em!
If you want to add some more Rosaries to your pocket in Silksong, you can use the Frayed Rosary String item from the inventory (this is the menu that shows your collected items, currency, and some other important details).
If you hover over the String in the Inventory, you can hold the designated button (A on Xbox / B on Switch / X on PS) to break the item. This will remove the item from your inventory and add 30 loose Rosaries to your collection.
It seems that there are other versions of Rosary Strings you'll encounter on your journey that will give you more than 30 Rosaries.
Once you get past the opening tutorial section of Silksong, you will encounter NPCs that will sell you items like maps and tools to aid you on your quest.
However, it's worth noting that if you lose all of your health in Silksong, Hornet will drop all of their Rosaries, and you'll need to go back to the area where you died to retrieve them. That being said, it's best to use the Frayed Rosary Strings right before you plan on buying something, so you don't risk losing them.
