In Silksong, the Hunter's Journal essentially serves as a bestiary for the game. When you kill an enemy, a basic description and image of that enemy will be added to the newly-unlocked Hunter's Journal tab in the menu.

Every Hunter's Journal enemy in Silksong has two sets of notes: one unlocks when you kill an enemy for the first time, and one unlocks after killing a certain number of that enemy. While the first set of notes is a general overview of that enemy, the second set of notes reveals deeper lore from Hornet's perspective.

Here, you will find the innkeeper Creige, a bench to rest on, and in the attic above, Nuu. This snail is a bit of an odd character, seen in the Silksong release trailer trying to kiss Hornet, followed by a swift slap to the face from the Pale King's favorite princess.

After introducing herself, Hornet is asked by Nuu to "seek Pharloom's fabulous bugs and cut them." Nuu then gives Hornet the Hunter's Journal, permanently unlocking the Hunter's Journal tab in the menu.

Upon acquisition, the Hunter's Journal will automatically update with every enemy you have killed so far, including kill counts required to unlock expanded notes.
