Where to Find the Surgeon's Key in Silksong

Similar to a lot of confusing mechanisms in the game, during the exploration of Whiteward in Act 2 of Hollow Knight: Silksong, players will come across a locked mechanism. Now, given that this is not tied to the main story of the game, players will not get any help whatsoever on how to access this mechanism and what lies beyond. How to Open the Ornate Lock Mechanism in Silksong

During your journey to the top of the Citadel, you will have to go through Whiteward. Accessing the elevator requires the White Key, which players can get from the top right part of the Citadel in Songclave. Grab the key, ring the bell in the First Shrine if you want, then come back to the elevator and take it down to explore the rest of Whiteward. Go through the left passage, and you will come across a lock mechanism that requires a keyhole. Ignore this for now and progress through the main story until you get the Clawline ability on the eastern side of Underworks.

Once that is done, return to Whiteward and make your way to the right just before you drop down into a lava pit and proceed into the Underworks. Up here, you will find a secret passage on the top, and if you go left, you will come across an enemy and a grapple point where you can use the Clawline to make an item drop, which is the Surgical Key. Take this key back to the lock mechanism and open it. This will cause the area underneath you to open up, and you will drop down into The Unravelled's boss arena.

How to Open the Ornate Lock Mechanism in Silksong 9

The fight starts with a single enemy, and once that enemy has been dealt with, two more will spawn. The boss will make his appearance after that, and he only has three attacks in his arsenal. The Unravelled deals two mask damage, so be careful that you are not standing on the ground where he emerges from. The boss will usually start the fight with a charge attack, but you can attack him during this. All you have to do is jump and dash out of the way and attack him from behind before he dives into the ground.

After reemerging, he will either perform another charge attack or use his projectiles that you can hit. As you deal enough damage to the boss, he will start spawning spears that spawn from the ground, then dive back down. Be careful, as in the later stages of the fight, the boss can start doing the charge attack while the spears are still active. Once the boss has been dealt with, you will get a Silk Heart for your troubles.
