How to Get Snare Setter in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Snare Setter Location

Ability Requirements: Wall Climb (Cling Grip), Faydown Cloak (Double Jump)

Snare Setter can be found in a hidden area of Weavenest Atla, which can only be accessed using the Faydown Cloak (Double Jump) in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Weavenest Atla is located east of Moss Grotto, the starting location of the game, and can be accessed by playing the Needolin in front of the locked door. Here’s the route to obtain the Snare Setter.

Enter Weavenest Atla and activate the teleporter to reach the lower level.
Use Cling Grip to climb the wall to the right.
Jump across and enter the chamber to the left.
Walk left until you reach the water.
Look up and you’ll see a hidden area accessible via double jump.
Use Cling Grip to reach the top, then turn right.
Pick up Snare Setter from the pedestal to add it to your inventory.

If this is your first time here, do not forget to pick up a Hunter Crest Upgrade from the bottom right corner of Weavenest Atla, as well as a Spool Fragment (Silk Upgrade) from the area below the Snare Setter.

Is Snare Setter Worth It?

When used, Snare Setter creates a medium-sized silk rune on the ground that explodes when any enemy walks near it, dealing damage. Snare Setter has eight charges by default and does not require any extra resources to replenish beyond regular Shell Shards.

Snare Setter shows its value in boss fights where Hornet can litter the arena with Silk runes using this tool and wait for bosses to walk into them. While it does work against normal enemies as well, it’s often better to simply use your Needle to deal with enemies than to rely on tools like this one.

Functionally, it works quite similarly to the Tacks Tool (Caltrops). However, while the Tacks cannot deal appreciable damage to bosses that move around a lot, the Snare Setter can. As a downside, however, it’s less efficient overall in terms of damage per hit.
