After you get the Drifter's Cloak and ascend upward through the ceiling of the Far Fields, Hornet will arrive in Greymoor. Three signs direct Hornet to points of interest nearby, but players may struggle to figure out what to do first after reaching Greymoor in Silksong.
Hollow Knight: Silksong - Interactive Map (Pharloom)
Our interactive map for Pharloom in Hollow Knight: Silksong. All the skills, tools, benches, and more found in the game.
Greymoor is home to numerous NPCs, collectibles, bosses, and items, and it's connected to several important later-game areas where Hornet can acquire several powerful new abilities. Follow this guide to understand where to go after reaching Greymoor in Silksong and what you should prioritize as you explore this area and its connected zones.
Buy the Map for Greymoor
After you launch through the roof of the Far Fields and enter Greymoor, go right to enter a new area, then drop down the steps to find a bench and Shakra. She will warn Hornet about the flying enemies in Greymoor and the lake, and offer a map of Greymoor for 70 Rosaries.
After getting this map, go back to the Greymoor entrance from the Far Fields and continue to the left until you reach the Halfway Home, a small hub with a Bench and Nuu.
Get the Hunter's Journal From Nuu
The Halfway Home can be found to the left of the entrance to Greymoor. You will eventually run into a building with a locked front door. Make your way to the other side of the building to find the entrance to the Halfway Home.
Unlock the door on the right of the building by hitting a lever within the Halfway Home.
Talk to the innkeeper Creige, then jump up to the rafters to find a strange little snail named Nuu recording notes on a large scroll. Talk to Nuu and accept its wish to get the Hunter's Journal. Like in Hollow Knight, the Hunter's Journal will record notes on enemies you kill throughout Pharloom as a kind of Silksong bestiary.
Defeat Moorwing
From the Halfway Home, go left and make your way through the complex ruins on the left-most side of Greymoor. Eventually, you will find a large lake with an air vent. Drop down, and continue heading left to reach the Moorwing boss.
This boss is mandatory to continue your journey through Silksong, but if you find all Fleas and return them to the Fleamaster, he will move the Caravan to this boss's location, disabling the fight.
Moorwing is a tough boss to beat, not just because all of its attacks deal two Masks of damage, but also because its moveset can be hard to react to with proper timing.
Reach Bellhart & Enter Shellwood
After defeating Moorwing, or after using the Fleamaster to avoid the fight entirely, Silksong players will unlock access to two new areas: Bellhart and Shellwood. Initially, Bellhart is under the effects of the Haunting as Hornet discovers the town's inhabitants ensnared in silk.
To return Haunted Bellhart to normal, you'll have to make your way through the Shellwood area, which itself is home to numerous bosses, collectibles, and a new Ancient Art.
Beat The Sister Splinter Boss
Near the top of Shellwood, after navigating its maze-like platforms and tricky jumping segments, players will encounter the Sister Splinter boss. This boss is embedded in the ceiling and will slam with its claws, summon thorns to block off parts of the arena, and summon flying allies to its side.
Sister Splinter is a tough boss fight, but you'll unlock a powerful new Weaver Ability after getting past her. Unlock the elevator shortcut back to the central Bench in Shellwood to make the runback to this boss a bit easier.
Get Cling Grip To Jump Up Walls
Head left from the Sister Splinter boss fight and make your way around the platforms in the next room to the other side of the central column. Take care to avoid being hit by the disguised flower bugs that will show themselves if Hornet gets too close.
On the left side of this room, use the downward slash to pogo across two white flowers and enter another room to the left.
In this room, head left to the end, then quickly turn around and loop up and to the right to get to the Weaver Statue. Use the Bind skill in front of this statue to unlock the Cling Grip ability.
Cling Grip is one of the most useful movement skills in Silksong. Like the Mantis Claw in Hollow Knight, the Cling Grip allows Hornet to grab onto vertical surfaces and jump off of them. Use the Cling Grip to explore the rest of Shellwood and reach the Widow boss on the far right of the zone.
Beat Widow To Free Bellhart
Widow is a boss who lingers directly above Bellhart, but you can only access her boss room after beating Splinter Sister, getting Cling Grip, and using it to ascend to the far top-right of Shellwood. Widow wields two sharp claws and spins thread to summon bells that either launch at Hornet or create temporary, damaging ground.
When you defeat Widow, Hornet will leap onto her, stab her with her nail, and use her silk to break her apart. After a brief dream-like sequence, Hornet will awaken with the Needolin ability unlocked. Exit the boss arena to the right to get back to Bellhart and check in on the very thankful residents of this town.
Get Your First Needle Upgrade
After saving Bellhart, take some time to explore the town and talk to every NPC. There is a vendor on the left side of town, a Wishwall with three quests Hornet can pick up, and two buildings above that you can jump up to.
The first building houses Relic Keeper Scrounge, who will trade Rosaries for your collected artifacts and display them in its house.
The second building slightly further up is Pinmaster Plinney's house. Talk to the Pinmaster and, as thanks for saving Bellhart from the Widow, he will offer to upgrade Hornet's Needle for free. Upgrading the Needle in Silksong increases its damage, and you can pick up a quest from Plinney to get a material that will allow him to upgrade the Needle further.
With the Cling Grip, Needolin, and upgraded Needle in your possession, a lot of Pharloom suddenly opens up for exploration. From here, you can continue into the Blasted Steps to finish Act 1 by taking the exit to the left of the Shellwood Bell Beast station. Defeat the Last Judge outside the Citadel to continue into Act 2.
Alternatively, consider returning to old zones to see what secrets and areas you can reach with abilities you have earned since – there are other zones you can access from these old areas aside from Blasted Steps now that you have the Needolin and Cling Grip skills.
