Reddit user ec_2002 recently shared a screenshot of their mobile device, revealing they are still receiving push notifications from The Simpsons: Tapped Out despite it shutting down earlier this year. The player explained that they think they had planted crops at Cletus' Farm in the final minutes that Tapped Out was available, leaving them in a perpetual state of being ready to harvest. Cletus' Farm was one of the numerous locations players could interact with in Tapped Out, a game that mixed city-building gameplay with the characters and humor found in The Simpsons animated TV show.

With Cletus' Farm, players could pay to plant crops, with each type requiring different lengths of time to grow. The longer the crop's growing time, the higher the reward. Some crops took mere seconds to grow, while others, such as corn, took 90 real-life days. Waiting was a big part of the Tapped Out game cycle, though there were plenty of things to get sidetracked with, as the game also encouraged players to get creative by building their own versions of Springfield. Placing buildings and unlocking characters was arguably one of Tapped Out's biggest draws and was a real treat for fans of the actual show.
Tapped Out shut down in January 2025 after developers announced the game would be ending in late 2024. The decision seemingly came from Tapped Out's publisher and owner, EA. Tapped Out seemed to be a fairly healthy game, reportedly generating over $100 million in revenue in its lifetime.
