The Sims community believes one past franchise entry deserves an HD remake, even though the sequel in question recently received a re-release. The very first The Sims game launched in 2000 for PC, followed four years later by The Sims 2, The Sims 3 in 2009, and The Sims 4 in 2014. Existing as one of the best-selling video game series of all time, the IP continues to evolve every decade, but one particular installment is still dear to fans’ hearts.

The Sims 4 community is patiently waiting for July 10 to roll around, as it will mark the arrival of the game’s next major expansion. Just as advertised, the Enchanted by Nature DLC is packed with new features for players to unleash their love for nature, by taking advantage of the Innisgreen world’s three new neighborhoods, allowing Sims to live their best life out in the wilderness, and by transforming into Fairies, which is a long-awaited addition. Some The Sims 4 players have already been building Hobbit Holes in preparation for the update, making the DLC’s new content perfect for fantasy fans as well.

The Sims 4 Releases New Update for July 2025

The Sims 4 releases a new update that adds new features, abilities, build items, and fixes a large number of bugs, improving the game.

Posted on Reddit by SamTheMarioMaster2, screenshots from The Sims 2 were shared within The Sims subreddit, drawing attention to the 2004 sequel that deserves an HD remake. Despite being the first PC game in the series to feature a 3D graphics engine, the visuals reflect the title's age, but what matters is the fantastic content for most. The Sims 1 and 2’s re-release left some nostalgic features to be desired for The Sims 4, but even with the fourth entry’s modernity, a large portion of the life sim community still considers The Sims 2 to be a “masterpiece.”

The Sims 2 Fans Believe the Sequel Deserves an HD Remaster

The Sims 2 harbors plenty of features that have aged well, but some Redditors agreed that nostalgia was a potent Kool-Aid, pointing out how underwhelming the graphics seem now. The more comical elements of the sequel were also highlighted, as players reminisced about toppling cows to obtain milkshakes and agreed a remake with this tone would be exciting, especially with modern graphics to enhance it.

2025 is shaping up to be a memorable year for The Sims franchise, as the long-running series is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary. Adding to the previously hosted 25-hour livestream, new expansion packs, and a base update to The Sims 4 that added over 70 new items, there may be one big surprise waiting to be revealed. Project Rene is thought to be a more multiplayer-focused entry in the IP, previously announced back in 2022, and the franchise’s commendable anniversary year could be the perfect time to lift the veil.
