The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature is the latest expansion pack in the series, and will bring fairies and a magical element to plants and the outdoors in The Sims 4. Early reviews for Enchanted by Nature are already out, and the reception to some features is surprising, while others are as expected, especially alongside the free base game update that The Sims 4 developer Maxis released in anticipation of Enchanted by Nature.
One of the biggest disappointments for Simmers is the very few landscaping objects in Build mode. As a nature-themed pack, plants and landscaping were expected to be one of the main features of The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature. Instead, it has just two new outdoor plants for landscaping. This is a massive disappointment for many Simmers, but not all hope is lost. Like other content packs for The Sims 4, many of the most useful objects are hidden in debug.
July 2025 is the Month of the Cozy Game
Cozy gamers are in for a great month as July brings a slew of new cozy game releases, sales, and some highly anticipated updates for big titles.
How to Use Debug in The Sims 4
Debug objects are all the objects that the developer uses to create and decorate The Sims 4 worlds. Objects such as decorative cars, community lot signs, and a plethora of trees, bushes, flowers, and outdoor decor are located in debug. While many plants and flowers found in Build and Buy mode are designed to be centerpieces, The Sims 4's debug crucially includes nondescript objects that go a long way in filling a space and making it feel more natural and alive.
Debug is a cheat, and can be accessed on PC in the following way:
- Open the cheat with Shift + Ctrl + C
- Type "testingcheats true" without the quotes.
- Type "bb.showhiddenobjects ", then "bb.showliveeditobjects " without the quotes, hitting the enter key after each one.
- Open Build/Buy mode and type "debug" in its search bar.
- Debug items should appear.
As debug isn't strictly intended to be used by players, using debug comes with a caveat: accessibility. The objects in debug aren't named, don't cost anything, and are in a completely random order. This can make it difficult to sort through, but many players find it to be worth it as it includes some of the best landscaping in The Sims.
Enchanted by Nature's Debug Saves It, But It Shouldn't Need To
Debug is especially useful for an expansion pack like Enchanted by Nature, which set an expectation for nature to play a big role in the pack. With just two new landscaping objects, players will be forced to rely on the base game landscaping, plus any other items from other The Sims 4 content packs to create a garden or community lot that emphasizes nature.
However, Enchanted by Nature's debug includes a range of Sims 4 landscaping objects, including rocks, stumps, different kinds of bushes, flowers, and trees. Rather than getting just two landscaping items, Enchanted by Nature's debug gives Simmers access to over a dozen plants for their Sims' gardens.
The Case to Use The Sims 4's Debug
Debug adds far more to The Sims 4, and gives players so many more options when decorating their Sims' homes, gardens, and community lots. Some of the best builders in The Sims 4 community regularly use debug, and it's a tool that Simmers shouldn't shy away from as it's easy to use once players get accustomed to it.
The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature's sparse landscaping offerings are particularly bad because of its nature theme, but it's no different from The Sims 4's other content packs. Prominent influencers in The Sims 4 space, like Lilsimsie, have pointed out the problems with hiding so many useful objects behind The Sims 4's debug. Many players don't know that debug exists, and the objects hidden in it should just be tagged and found alongside every other item in Build and Buy mode.
