Legacy challenges are a fan-favorite in The Sims 4. It's fun to accompany a family throughout various generations and see how it evolves and how big it becomes. As the player chooses their next heir, they might lose track of some family members as they go their own way. Thankfully, the genealogy tree, also known as the family tree, makes it possible for players to easily track their family members even if they grow apart.

Where Is the Genealogy Tree in The Sims 4?

To check a Sim's family tree in The Sims 4, players must open the Simology panel (Y) and then select the Genealogy option, which is located between the Sim's stats and age information.

As players spend more time in their save file, it may take longer for the tree to load all of the Sims on it. Therefore, it is best to wait a few seconds before selecting any Sims on the tree.

How the Genealogy Tree Works in The Sims 4

The genealogy tree in The Sims 4 works just like any family tree. Above their Sim, players can see older generations, and below, they can see the younger ones.

The white lines signify a blood relative, while the pink line indicates a relationship by marriage.

Players can hover over any Sim to check their name and the relationship that they share with the currently selected Sim. To learn more about a certain Sim on the same genealogy tree, players can click on them, and this will allow them to visualize their tree instead. This is how players can gather more information about distant family members.
