Members of The Sims 4 community are talking about how the game is still lacking some important features over 11 years after its release. Some of these are details that were present in prior Sims games, while others are simply things that make sense, and fans of The Sims 4 want them to be added to the game.

Since EA revealed that it will continue to support The Sims 4 rather than producing The Sims 5 for the forseeable future, players have been talking about the future of the game and its increasing age. While The Sims 4 has no lack of content by way of expansions and mods, that doesn't make the game perfect. Many players have taken issue with The Sims 4's increasing age, as it has led to instability for some gamers, especially after a major update releases. However, in this particular case, it's some of the smaller details players want to see addressed.

On Reddit, user 1nternet-crybaby shared a post asking the community what minor details they can't believe haven't been added to the game yet. 1nternet-crybaby themselves said that they wanted a third optional name field to be added that would allow them to give their Sims nicknames. Their idea quickly kicked off conversation, with many fans sharing their own thoughts.

Several of the recommendations were coming from fans of older Sims games, who are sad that some of their features weren't included or ever added to The Sims 4. Some players have pointed to cars in particular, wishing that their Sims' kids would be picked up by a schoolbus when leaving for class, or that carpools would swing by the house to pick up those who needed to go to work. Others were reminded of features from The Sims 3, like the ability to invite an entire household to come visit, or other Sims spontaneously calling the player's Sims to invite them to a party.

Other requests, however, aren't rooted in prior Sims games, but simply a desire for improvement. For example, spiral staircases are a popular request, but are sadly lacking in the game without the use of mods. Others point to Sims practicing or playing music together, and that there's no way to actually have them play the same thing, so the room just devolves into a cacophany of noise, even if each Sim is proficient in playing. Another player suggested that twins and triplets should be able to blow out the candles on a birthday cake together in The Sims, which many agreed with.

Another popular choice that was brought up multiple times is the way that relationships work in The Sims 4. Players are asking for decoupled relationship bars that would allow each Sim involved in a relationship to have their own level of interest towards the other Sim. Fellow fans have pointed out that something similar to this existed in The Sims 2, so it doesn't seem out of the question to ask for it to be brought back.

As the OP stated, these are all relatively minor requests, and many of them are shaped around what prior series entries in The Sims used to have. While obviously the game can't meet every single fan's expectations down to the smallest detail, it would also make sense to continue expanding the basic quality of life features and customization of Sims if this game is going to be supported for years to come. Thankfully, where EA fails to implement frequently requested features, Sims modders often step in, but ideally, they would be included in the base game in a future update so that everyone can enjoy them without going through extra hassle and possible compatibility issues.
