EA has released a new summer-themed roadmap for The Sims 4, outlining releases planned for the next few months. Roadmaps for The Sims 4 are released quarterly, but this one is a precursor to Q2's roadmap. The roadmap, titled Sim Your Summer, showcases an upcoming Sims Livestream, the reveal of the roadmap on June 5, the release of The Sims Board Game, and several updates for The Sims FreePlay.

Not mentioned in the roadmap is an upcoming event, The Sims 4 Nature's Calling, which was announced in a blog post on EA's site. Events in The Sims 4 are limited-time events that usually run between four and six weeks. Players can claim login rewards and complete quests for points, which unlock rewards such as Build and Buy Mode items, traits, special potions, and Aspiration Points. These rewards can only be purchased with points earned during The Sims 4 Nature's Calling Event, so players have a small window to earn them.

How The Sims 4 Nature's Calling Event Will Work

The Nature's Calling Event will begin on June 24 and run for four weeks until August 5. Two weeks have been added to this time as a grace period for Simmers who start late, giving the event a total runtime of six weeks. Simmers will need to complete two Quests each week to earn all the available rewards. Players will need to log in with their EA account and will automatically get the new Reclaimed Woodworking Table. All rewards are linked with the player's EA account, minimizing the chances of losing them. Each week features the following announced rewards:

Week 1

  • Reclaimed Woodworking Table
  • Odonata Glasses (glasses based on the wings of a dragonfly)
  • Reclaimed Wood Wall
  • Touch Grass Weekly, Issue #1

Week 2

  • Flowing Fronds Swimwear
  • Foraged Feast food recipe

The Sims 4 Nature's Calling Event Theme

The theme of Nature's Calling is all about venturing into the outdoors, woodworking, and discovering a secret in nature. Simmers can expect to level up their Woodworking skill with the new Woodworking table login reward, while venturing into the outdoors to discover a magical secret. It's unknown how these two elements will connect, but it may have to be necessary to unlock the secret of the voice Sims will hear during the event.

Players who keep up with any The Sims 4 leaks may note that this event theme is very closely aligned to the leaked details of the next The Sims 4 expansion pack, which is allegedly based around nature and fairies. The description of the event states:

"One fateful day, you hear a faint voice as you step outside. The voice is fleeting and is soon gone, as if carried away by the wind itself. Still, you long to hear it again, and so you journey forth to discover the source of the whispers."

This heavily hints at something magical hiding in the outdoors, and which could be the leaked fairies for The Sims 4. Additionally, some of the rewards, notably the Odonata Glasses and Flowing Fronds Swimwear, resemble fairy wings.

While the patterns are officially based on the pattern of a dragonfly's wing, which matches the nature theme, it is also reminiscent of the pattern of The Sims 3's fairy wings. As the event is expected to take place several weeks after the reveal of the official roadmap for June to August, it's likely Simmers will play the event in a very different context, and have a lot to look forward to.
