When The Sims 4 introduced kits as a new type of content add-on, it was uncertain what kind of strategy they would encompass or if they would even become a permanent feature. Years on, kits have become a mainstay of The Sims 4, with over 30 kits having been released as of the first quarter of 2025. Kits bring small amounts of hyper-focused content, with Build kits typically giving enough content to create and furnish one room alongside base game content along a certain theme, while Create-a-Sim kits typically have between 15-17 new CAS items in total for adult male and female Sims.
May 1 will bring three more kits: The Sims 4: Restoration Workshop Kit, The Sims 4: Golden Years Kit, and The Sims 4: Kitchen Clutter Kit. As kits fulfill a specific niche, these kits are likely to do the same, although one or more of these may be like The Sims 4: Casanova Cave Kit and The Sims 4: Secret Sanctuary Kit from early 2025, which have items from both CAS and Build mode. The redistribution of items meant that there were not enough Build and Buy items to create an entire room with either kit, which was heavily criticized by some players.
The Sims 4: Everything Added in the Free Base Game Update (Burglar Update - 25/02)
The Sims 4 received a major content update - here's everything it added to the game.
The Sims 4: Restoration Workshop Kit
Items to Design and Furnish a Workshop
While the details of the purpose of The Sims 4: Restoration Workshop Kit haven't been released yet, it should ideally come with enough items to design and furnish a workshop. This may be another gameplay kit like The Sims 4: Bust the Dust Kit, where Sims can restore broken items, possibly in line with the existing Handiness Skill. To fulfill this purpose, the kit would need to come with a workstation and give certain items in-game the functionality to degrade. Another option would be to make this a decorative pack, where players could design a space to increase Sim skills.
Integration with Unused Base Game Content
The Sims 4: Crystal Creations Stuff took the collectible gem mechanic from The Sims 4's base game, which was largely useless, and breathed new life into it by giving it several new valuable mechanics. The Sims 4: Restoration Workshop Kit could do the same with other base game mechanics in The Sims 4 that are going unused at the moment. This could also improve the kit's cross-pack compatibility, and increase the kit's value as a whole.
The Sims 4: Kitchen Clutter Kit
Transforming the Heart of the Home
Clutter is an essential part of making a Sim's home look and feel lived-in. Kitchens are often called the heart of a home and especially need clutter to look realistic. Even with so many content add-ons, there's a massive gap in basic kitchen clutter, such as storage containers, plates, bowls, pots and pans, spice drawers, utensils, more drying racks, sauce bottles, dishtowels, and other such items to fill empty spaces. Many players have to resort to using plants or items intended for other rooms to make their Sims' kitchens look finished, and this Build Kit should fill that gap.
The Sims 4: Golden Years Kit
A Kit Just For Elder Sims
There has always been a gap in the amount of content available for the Elder life stage in The Sims 4. The Sims 4: Golden Years Kit will hopefully fill that gap, and will likely be a Create-a-Sim kit, with clothing, hairstyles, and accessories for Elder Sims. As this life stage is very rarely included in both kits and other add-on content, this kit should help in making Elder Sims more stylish.
