Electronic Arts will shut down The Sims Mobile on January 20, 2026. This is bad news for gamers who love The Sims Mobile, as they will have no choice but to migrate to similar life sim titles after the servers are closed.
The Sims Mobile is a life sim game based on The Sims 4, which was released for iOS and Android in 2018. The title has multiplayer elements, and features an energy system which is depleted when players take actions, but can be restored with SimCash. Back in 2024, EA had already started to drop support for The Sims Mobile, announcing that the life sim game would only get re-runs of past content and events instead of fresh ones in the future.
After 2,061 Hours in The Sims 4, I Always Come Back to These 4 Careers
No matter how often I play The Sims 4, these 4 career paths have me in a chokehold for their distinctive gameplay, income potential, and fun factor.
When Will The Sims Mobile Shut Down?
- The Sims Mobile will shut down on January 20, 2026, at 1:59 PM UTC.
Electronic Arts has finally decided to end The Sims Mobile, announcing that the game will no longer be playable after January 20, 2026, at 1:59 PM UTC due to servers shutting down. A final update for the title will be available on October 20, giving infinite energy to all players, and The Sims Mobile will be delisted from online stores on October 21, 1:30 PM UTC. Gamers who have previously installed The Sims Mobile will still have access to it even if they delete the files, but new gamers won’t be able to download it anymore after this date. On January 6, 2026, all Build Mode and Create A Sim (CAS) items will unlock for every player, which will mean that gamers will at least have the full experience of playing the title before the server closure. In the meantime, events will continue to run as usual in the popular mobile life simulation game.
While this is certainly disappointing for fans, The Sims 4 will continue to receive updates, so fans may want to migrate to it. Back in September, the developers revealed an updated roadmap for The Sims 4, which included promises of more fixes and free content for all players coming up in November 2025.
The Sims 4 also released the recent Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack on October 2. The new expansion brought Custom Venues and Getaways to the game, which work as scheduled activities that will help Sims to recharge their energies and even meet new friends. Other additions brought by the expansion included new skills such as Papercraft, Entomology, Diving, and Archery, and three new neighborhoods: Wanderwood Wilds, Crystal Valley, and Jellyfish Junction.
